Cupcake cake with small cake ontop

I have heard using cupcake caked instead of a traditional wedding cake is more budget friendly. Is it true? If so how much does it cost for about 200 cupcakes plus a small regular wedding cake onto?

    It depends on so many different factors. Your location, the decoration, labour, flavours. In some cases it's not cheaper at all and others it's substantially cheaper. You're best asking this over on your local board AND of your baker. Ultimately the baker is the only one who can give you a definite answer.

    That's what we are doing. His dad is making the cutting cake and my friends and I are going to make the cupcakes.

    I am also having cupcakes. A family friend is doing it and only charging us $1.50 per cupcake.  We had them at her son's wedding and they were great. We are having one small cake on top to cut. The cupcakes will be on a tier stand to make it look like a 3 tier "cake". Great choice!
