Can I start a WFD?

I don't usually start/participate in  NWR threads, but I am watching my cholesterol, and it's Hillbilly Days. Make something that isn't deep fried and on a stick sound tasty?

  • We are having Greek stuffed portabellas with greens (http://www.greenling.com/quickshop_groups/38/bundled_baskets/61) I don't know if you can access that though. We were supposed to have it the other day but didn't.

  • I am no help. FI and I are going out to dinner. I have no idea where though. I kind want steak.
  • grilled cheese and "use what we have" salad (i think we only have lettuce and tiny tomatoes, and maybe a little bit of feta)

  • Linguini with shrimp and lemon.  Arugula and strawberry salad with a balsamic vinaigrette.  And brownies for dessert.
  • Oh snap, steak is my weakness. and there are at least ten cheese steak stands between work and my house.

    Those portabellos sound nifty, though.

  • We don't have a plan yet.  We might go out for dinner but haven't decided for sure.

What are Hillbilly Days?  I like corn-on-the-cob on a stick and that is healthy, but not a meal.  I also like to make kabobs on the grill with grilled chicken and veggies!

The Shriners put on this big benefit festival every year to help fund their hospitals and such. Basically, 30,000+ people squeeze into a 7000 population town to hear bluegrass music, ride carnival rides, and eat reeeaaaalllyyy bad (for you) food.

  • We're having pizza from the Upper Crust with a groupon.  Woo hoo.  Not sure if it's only a chain in Mass.  It's pretty pricey.  We never eat there without a groupon deal.
  • I'm making maple glazed salmon tonight (a new pinterest recipe)

Mica, FI would pee himself if I told him we were having shrimp AND brownies in one night.

Oooh, I like Upper Crust, but the one near me closed due to bad management practices.

We're going to the pub...so I see Guiness Stew and hard cider in my future.

  • Gah, I'm a goober. P&R, I forgot we are closing early today. yay!

  • Mica - why does your food always sound so freaking amazing?

I'm doing something simple for dinner. Turkey Sausage (sorry RupertPenny!) and steamed rice & Vegetables. The meal is 490 calories and 7 g of fat. Not bad at all ; p
  • Because I love to cook, pokepoke.  This is fun for me.
  • I love to cook too, but it's always boring sounding like "Baked Chicken" haha. Maybe I'll get more creative when I'm cooking for more than just one person

  • That definitely helps!  It's a lot more fun cooking for more than just me.
  • Mica - I'll be down for dinner as soon as they invent teleportation.  That sounds delicious.  I have some leftover enchiladas from when I went out for Mexican earlier this week that I plan to microwave and throw some extra cheese on.  And probably some veggies and dip.  I also have half a calzone leftover so I might go that route instead.
  • We went to a 20-somethings Shabbos dinner where we at a some decent chicken and bland other stuff.  Pretty stereotypical Friday night dinner unfortunately.  I don't know what I'll be eating tomorrow, since I think I'll be on my own.  Maybe I'll make pasta.  My current noodle obsession ramen noodles minus that nasty flavor packet.  I cook them, drain them, and mix in a bit of soy sauce and some hot sesame oil.  Delicious.
