Wedding venues...help!

So I have been engaged for 8 months and I have not found the perfect venue yet. I have found places that I love but they were way over priced. I fell in love with Estancia Culinaria and I was ready to book it after I only saw pictures but then I saw the rental fee and it is just way too expensive for us. We are paying for our wedding ourselves. Our first guest list had 140ppl but we cut it down to 70 in hopes of being able to afford Estancia Culinaria but I feel like it's not the right place if I have to cut so many things out in order to afford the rental fee. e are looking for a vintage/southern venue that isn't expensive.  Any suggestions would be great. I'm so discouraged because I really did fall in love with Culinaria but e just can't do it.

Re: Wedding venues...help!

  • The Estancia Culinaria is a beautiful venue....I loved it when I first saw the pictures and changed my mind when I saw the rental price, lol. Have you checked out Thallatta Estate? It's a beautiful estate in Pinecrest and it's affordable. The one thing about this venue is that you have bring in your own vendors. This can be a bad thing if you don't want to do that but it can be a good thing because you can negotiate with the vendors you want to work with and stay within your budget. FI and I picked a space which allowed us to bring our own vendors and we saved a lot of $$$ because of it and thanks to our awesome wedding planners from Liz and Lex Events.

Another good venue to look into is Casa Reta in Davie. Also, check out the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens (The Great Lawn), Parrot Jungle (their gardens would be a nice setting for a vintage theme), and the Curtiss Mansion.
  • The Addison is a nice location to consider if you are willing to travel up north. When I think og vintage, the first idea that comes up is a outdoor location. If you want an outdoor location then check out Cauley Sqaure. It's far but not as far as Homestead and it's reasonable. I saw a vintage wedding picture op on greenweddingshoes.com and it was beautiful.

Have you heard of the Truss Gardens? It's a hidden Jewel, but it's beautiful. I wish I would have reconsidered it when I extended my budget. But I think it may be around what you're looking for:   http://www.eventective.com/USA/Florida/Miami/536321/The-Truss-Venue.html

I agree with Renaect about Truss Venue.  This used to be Holy Rosary Parish but it is no longer a church. Fantastic parking. It is a blank canvas but does come with tables and chairs.  There is a caterer which is extremely reasonable.  In fact we stole him for my daughter's wedding which we are having at the Spanish Monastery. With the caterer you will save a lot of money because not only are his prices great, but you will save by providing the liquor yourself which you should buy immediately after the holidays when it hits rock bottom.  I was sold on this place but the kids did not want to come this far south. You can find your own florist, linens etc. and negotiate,  The rental fee is very reasonable.  This is really a great find. In fact, a top top photographer used it for her daughter's mega blowout Quinces!  If people in the know are using it ou know it's awesome.  One thing though, the place is huge for only 70 people. Since you will be saving so much maybe you can still have you oringinal guest list.
  • Thank you so much for the replies. You lifted my spirits up! Can someone explain the provide your on liqour thing to me? Do we go out and buy it and then give it to the bar tender for them to serve and thats it? Thanks again!
  • "provide your own liquor" would be that you go out, buy whatever liquor you want, and the bartender serves it. Be careful though...when I worked for the caterer I used to work for, there was one wedding I was at that the couple did NOT have enough liquor for their guest list, and I had to end up going out and getting more liquor. (the company reimbursed me and billed the client - probably more than what i paid)... This was the one I did at the Spanish Monastery. I would suggest if you "provide your own liquor" to go to a place like Total Wine & Spirits, where they can sell it to you by the case, as opposed to Publix, or ABC Liquor or places like that, I think you get a better value at Total Wine than say Publix or ABC.
  • I would suggest Costco or BJs because you can return any unopened bottles after your wedding. Just make sure to keep the receipt.

I think also the caterer can give you a pretty good idea based on the guest list as to how to stock the bar.  The caterer provides al the soft drinks, mixers, etc.  You just worry about the liquor.

  • OMG! I know I said I regretted not reconsidering this place, but now I'm seriously remorseful about choosing this place. It's so perfect!!!!!!  http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.258983987546495.50406.210157962429098&type=3

I regret looking at these pictures now! I should have worked a little harder on my daughter.  This place is 1/3 of the price of the Spanish Monastery . Oh Well!

Hi ladies!!! Maybe this might be a bit forward of me, but would you mind sharing the rental fee for Estancia Culinaria? I too have been engaged for way too long and am looking for a beautiful rustic venue. And this place is absolutely gorgeous. I'm just curious to know if it could fit into my budget.
