How to stay entertained?

I just mentioned in a diff topic that I have Jury Duty this week.  I still don't know if I have to go in because you have to call in and they tell you whether or not you have to go.  How do you stay entertained? Obviously I have my phone and a book or something, but even that can get boring after a few hours. Anyone have any sure-fire ways not to nod off in Jury Duty?! [Which I've done before!! :\ ]

Download movies onto an iPod?  I dunno, I haven't had jury duty but I take a lot of flights.  Usually a good book can get me through any length of time!  Also, writing is great if you're into it.  Bring a journal!  When I flew to China, it was right after the whole "electronics" thing, so I wasn't allowed to even bring an iPod.  My book and my journal got me through the whole 15 hours!

Around here, you can't bring your cell phone or electronics into the building but it may be different elsewhere. Just wanted to say that JIC you get there with nothing but a phone to keep you occupied and then end up f'ed.

I suggest magazines and maybe some sodoku/cross word books. When I went, they had some great movies AND magazines from the early 2000's. It was like the world stopped in 2004 and all the magazines were about Nick and Jessica's marriage being ON THE ROCKS!

The one time I had jury duty was during college, so I took my laptop and did homework.  Such a waste of time though.

I've never had jury duty, but aren't you supposed to like, pay attention and be a jury?

Or am I completely mistaken about what jury duty is??

    The personal noun is juror.

You have to get selected, so there is a really long waiting period.

Thanks for clearing that up!  I hate waiting.  I'd say bring a good book you've been meaning to read but haven't had the time for (:
