Re: things I have realized recently...

  • I realized recently im happy not aspiring to anything - for so long ive wanted to be a photographer, start a paper business, open a store, do this or that. Im pretty happy just working and coming home and chilling out. I think the stress of doing those things would far outweigh the enjoyment of doing it.

That is the very reason why I will not scrapbook for other people. I don't want to take the fun out of it. i really enjoy it but I know that making albums for other people for a fee, would make it feel like a job and a hassle.
oh, I have another one. it stems from a conversation with a really good friend (also a teacher) whose child is the victim of bullying. I believe that not only the bully needs to be taught but also the bully. My friend is upset that nothing is being done to stop the bullying (which I totally get) but she never talks about her son's 'role' in it. He is at his third school in three years (not entirely because of bullying, the first move was partially motivated by it, the second had NOTHING to do with it) and he has had problems at all three schools. I get that bullying is wrong but we need to work with the victims too. They need to learn strategies and skills to help them. The reality is that eventually, they will be adults and they won't have anyone to 'suspend' bullies for them, they will need to work through it themselves since adults bully too!
    Posted by number55
I agree.  It seems that bullying today is a MUCH more complex and complicated issue than it was when we were kids and parents could just give us the 'sticks and stones' speech and be done with it.  Today the schools are involved, parents are involved, fb and cell phones are involved.. it's a nightmare.

I ordered a book in June, they came back a week later said it would be here between July28-Aug12 (huh?) Aug 12th came, nothing. So I went to cancel and found they had it in paperback. I changed and got it in a week. But I wonder if I hadn't how long that would cancelled.

I'm in this boat with you. I just ordered something a few weeks ago, they billed me for one,  then sent me two. I called and they arranged to have one picked up, I sent it back, then they gave me a credit back on my card. I called them to let them know that I should have been billed for the one that I received and the one I sent back I was never billed for. Two days later they billed me for 2. In total it took 2 weeks to get it finally fixed.

  • Number, I think the difference when you are no longer is school is that you aren't forced to interact with those people every day. Even at work, if someone were demeaning you, or threatening you, they'd get their asses fired.
School is this wierd situation where you're forced to be around people that treat you like crap. As an adult, I can choose not to.

  • It did say the book had shipped, though.  My fingers are still crossed.

I ordered boots once and 2 weeks after the order they emailed me to say they didn't have the right color.  I told them a substitute was fine and it took another week for them to ship it.  I had paid for a faster shipping method and they sent it ground :(  That was my most frustrating experience.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010
