Maui Wedding May 2013 - Suggestions on Private Estate Venues

Hi All,

I have learned so much reading through this forum. Thank you for sharing your experiences here!

My FI and I decided rather late to have a Maui wedding. Due to vacation times that are already scheduled we have to have the wedding sometime the last 2 weeks of May. We are planning max 50 guests and wanted to have the event on a private estate.

After an initial search I really liked Olawahu Plantation House, however, because of how popular they are, they only have availabilities on a few days between 10 am to 7 pm.

Would those have had weddings on Olawahu recommend against the early finish time? I really wanted an evening wedding...but love the venue so wondering if I should compromise here.

Other venues/thoughts? I am waiting to hear back from Sugarman Estate, Kukahiko Estate and hope they have some availability...

  • I got married at Olowalu and we booked it for the day so we had it from 10am to 10pm. It is an incredibly beautiful venue so I would recommend it if you can make it work for your schedule.

  • We went through luxuryretreats.com we stayed in the house where we were married.  They are very helpful and prompt in their responses.  They may be able to point towards something.

  • I booked through www.exoticestates.com and am having my wedding at the Majestic Maui Estate on 3/1/13.  It's not right on the water, but has water views since it's on the side of the mountain.  We are also going to stay at the villa for 4 days before the wedding with some of our wedding party.   I wanted a 'backyard' wedding and this was a way I could do it.

This is what we did at a private estate.  We were able to get some amazing photos look out acorss the water with Lanai in the background and then with the mountains!  We also had our photographer go down to the beach after the ceremony so we had pictures on the beach as well.  Best of both worlds!

  • Thanks for all the suggestions. There are some beautiful places on both websites.

How many guests did all of your end up having at your private estates? Did you end up going through a WC or did you plan the wedding day yourself?
  • I plan on having about 35-40 people at the wedding.  I did a lot of planning and picked out my vendors myself by doing a ton of research and reading lots of boards like this...I am having a coordinator to help me with a few of the details I need help with and for day of stuff so I don't have to stress :)
