Stupid Comment of the Day

We were explaining an investment return to an individual who was upset because he wasn't getting what he thought he would.  The investment return was 0.15%.  When explaining this to him, alternating versions of 0.15% and .15% were used.  At that, he blew up saying those two amounts were not the same and he took an accounting class so he should know.  Oy.

What stupid things have you heard today (or lately)?

  • Someone yelled at me on the phone that we should help him because his wife is related to the late Senator Kennedy.

  • I can't remember if I shared this here or not but H was put on my car insurance a few months prior to the wedding. When I changed my name on the insurance after the wedding, they spelled our last name wrong by one letter on my name. So I call them and inform them of the mistake, spell out the name for the rep on the phone and he says "Oh, so just like MrMidge'sname?" Yes. Yes.
  • After sending multiple letters and making several calls to one of my patients to obtain their insurance information, we finally sent the bill directly to them.

They called me earlier to scream at me for not billing their insurance. I reminded them we'd sent multiple letters and left all kinds of voice mail messages for approximately seven weeks before billing them directly. I said, "All we need is the name of your insurance company, and we'll send the bill to them." Their response? "You should have TOLD me that!!!"

OMG WE DID IT WAS IN THE LETTERS AND ON YOUR VOICE MAIL OMG OMG OMG.
  • Oldie but one that still makes me laugh

In an office of 5 total, co-worker who sits 10 feet away from me sends me an IM asking if I read his email.
I open email, it says we have a meeting in a few minutes
  • I was at Target last night behind a woman returning a vacuum.  The vacuum was $500 and she had purchased it with her Target card.  The store told her that the money would be credited back to her Target card.  She argued.  The clerk explained and pointed to the sign that clearly sets forth their policies for returns.

The customer was just enraged, screaming yelling about how "in this economy" it is CRIMINAL to not give someone cash when they return an item, regardless of how they purchased it.

    1. babys are protected even if she didnt have all the extra weight on her that a dog unless is some kind of super dog could never kill a baby by puttin a paw on her stomach even when playing.

    2. there are so many more with this person that i just tune her out now cuz everythime she talks i want to punch her in the face

Makes me wonder if she just bought the vacuum for the purpose of getting the cash.  That's some responsible banking right there.

[QUOTE]I received a letter in the mail today from a fabric store in Dallas, asking for my office's tax exempt number showing we were allowed to purchase things for resale.  I called and explained that we didn't have a tax exempt number and I was thoroughly confused.  Girl on the phone tells me that all they needed to know was that the business was out of state and they were good.  Um, we're a university with the state's name IN the name of the school AND you sent me a rush overnighted letter to my office, also in a different state (same state as the school's name, imagine that!) to ask me if we were located in a state other than Texas?  Really?

They NEED the paperwork in for audits etc. Most jurisdictions require a seller to charge sales tax without an exemption. That fabric store could lose a business license over something like that.

  • I'm late to the game, and it's not a comment, but today I was driving behind someone that had a bumper sticker that said "2012, Don't Re-Nig"

Fuuuuuuuuck you dude. I was not pleased.
  • I've seen that one Poke.  Flucking jackoffs.

My coworker without a filter is thankfully very quiet today so I don't have anything to add.

Besides the obvious racism, it's actually contrary to what it states.   Not "re-nigging" would mean sticking with the same decision.   Soooo....yeah.   But yeah, that's pretty gross.

  • Honestly, everyone is entitled to an opinion. I've seen bumper stickers that say "No-bama" and other clever little ways of saying they want the "other side" to win. They don't bother me. But seeing that someone is TRYING to be a racist jack-ass pisses me off.

And now that you guys point it out, I realise it and find it pretty funny. I was just too irritated over the racist part to think too much into it.
