June 2012 Weddings

Grrrrrrrr Getting frustrated

I spent HOURS putting my addresses right so that i could do mail merge & print them on envelopes.

First the envelopes are a tad too wide for my printer *sigh*

Second the mail merge worked, but put all my addresses in the retun address field so i may have to copy all 105 by hand & move them.

Third i can rotate the envelopes on mail merge but it prings the other way which is wrong :(

Looks like i will be doing ALL of them by hand with my shitty hand writing.

*Microsoft Office 2010 sucks, no tutorials work for it because it is so different*

  • I was really, really, really trying to avoid labels. My invitations are very formal. I was trying to print light addresses that i could trace.

  • In printing the addresses directly on my envelopes. I have to manually type in all the addresses because just the thought of dealing with mail merge makes me want to barf and I have to hand feed the envelopes anyway. But the test ones I did turned out fine.

<div>Mine are a bit to wide for the printer, plus i have no clue how to even do it manually. Mail merge put them directly on the envelope, i just couldn't get it to work with this envelope being a tad bit to wide. </div>

  • I am having the same issue with my printer and I can't figure it out. It keeps telling me the paper source in the tray isn't the right one and I can't find the setting for my size envelop. Mine must be to big too! I tired it for like 3 hours yesterday and I'm still pissed I can't get it to work.
  • ugh! I hate computer problems like that. Technology is great, but sometimes I really hate it. Good luck. I hope you find a way to make it work.

  • Yikes, good luck with that! I have very limited experience with Word 2010 so I can't help. I don't have awesome handwriting, but I bought a calligraphy pen and have started writing them all out. The pen definitely makes it look better. I only have about 35 or so to do, so it's not bad for me.

  • I love Office 2010, but I've never used the address label part of any program. Sorry it's giving you so much trouble. :( Does your FI have nicer handwriting? Enlist him!
  • He does not have nice handwriting, nor do my friends, i bought what said it was a calligraphy pen but it is nothing like a calligraphy pen, wasted $7 on it too from michael's. I am not looking forward to hand writting all of these.

  • I'm goint to try to do labels.  I couldn't even get my invitations to print!  My printer won't center them.  Frown
  • I read somewhere it is tacky to put labels on a formal invitation. So i'm hand writing all mine. But my penmanship is pretty bad and so is my fiance's.

  • I wasn't happy with my handwriting either so I picked up a light box from Michaels, printed all of the addresses off onto regular paper in a nice font, stuck the paper into the envelope, put it on the light box and traced the addresses.

Not sure if that would help you?  Also, my envelopes are not lined, I don't know if it would work with lined ones.

  • I am hand writing them. I need to try out a sharpie and a caligraphy pen if I can find one that I like.

<div>Was that expensive? My envelopes are lined but not where the address part goes, return addresses are lined so that part will not have the same font if i can not get it to work lol</div>

  • I printed mine on lables with a calligraphy font...but, I'm doing everything super informal. I don't see how printing on an envelope is any different though, its still printed and not hand written. In my opinion, I'd rather have it legible and on a lable than hand written in sloppy half cursive (that's how I write). I hand wrote the first names of the guests on the inner envelope.
