Well, I made contact with a lab up in the Jersey area and have been emailing with both the lab director and lab manager. They have several positions they are waiting for HR to approve and post, two of which they said I would probably qualify for based on my resume.
In the mean time, they have invited me to come up at the end of January to meet with them and take a tour of their lab. From what I have heard about the lab manager, the man is so intelligent and just wonderful to work with.
I am very hopeful that this means something good!
