Melb

Where did you do your honeymoon research? It sounds just like what my FI and I have been talking about. We're thinking about flying into SF, touring around there for a few days, heading up to Napa Valley/Wine country and then Portland/maybe Seattle. Any tips would be greatly appreciated :

Re: Melb

  • I never use a travel agent- pure waste with the internet.  We have a credit card program where we get free airline miles, so we'll use that.  I did a lot of research online to find hotels in Sonoma and completely fell in love with The McArthur Place.  We're completely splurging for that one.  Otherwise, we're huge priceline.com folks for cars and hotels.  That's our plan for the rest of the trip.

Also, our last vacation, we watched a ridiculous amount of Diners Drive-Ins and Dives and took notes and went to those places on our trip.  Best eating vacation ever!!  Totally doing that again for this trip!

Are you a AAA member?  I have the AAA travel guides for those areas and we're going to use them to decide on places to see and towns to stay in along the way.

You are the first person I've ever heard of who has planned this same honeymoon route!  I think it's going to be the right mixture of relaxation, things to do, and romance Laughing

  • Awesome! Yes, I'm an AAA member. I will definitely look into it. We are total foodie/wine lovers and want to hike a little too. SF had the BEST restaurants when I was there and I've always wanted to go to wine country!!! I will keep you posted :

I was just in that region for vacation.  One of the guys with us has been on a bunch of wine tours there and took us to  http://www.chateaustjean.com/index.cfm   which was amazing!!!  Its so so pretty...the view from the back patio was perfect wine country, and the wine was great.  To actually buy the wines you taste is pricey, but they have non "reserve" wines you can get in alot of stores.

<div>This looks gorgeous!  We were definitely taking one whole day to do vineyards so we'll have to do this one!  Haha probably not buying any wine from any vineyards!  Too expensive!</div>
