Invitations Round 2

You may remember a few weeks back, I had asked everyone's opinion on the invitations my FBIL designed for us. I thought they were nice, but just did not go at all with our wedding, and ended up asking him for a re-do. Well he finally finished more mock ups and I would like everyone's opinion again. I think I know what I will ask him to do, and it involves combining these three and making some minor changes, but I still want to see if anyone has other thoughts or suggestions.

Here are the links (it was such a PITA last time to blank out our names, so please just don't stalk us/send us junk mail)

Invite 1
Invite 2
Invite 3

The look of our wedding is romantic, classic, sweet. Colors are lavender, white and grey. My dress is lace, grooms tux are grey and bms are lavender silk chiffon. Ceremony is outside at a historic estate.

LOVE the font on the address labels.

Is there a reason the "Filet" is a murch larger font that the other words?

    It looks great!!

I really love the first one, but when you describe the feel of your wedding, I think the third option best matches that.

DD because I'm dumb and can't read today.
Paprika: I like it when you burp in my ear. It really turns me on.

I love the first and third one. Even to us the first, but us the font of the third? Very pretty though. Wish he could make mine!

Haha, RA, you confused me! That's really funny though cause when we were first looking for vendors I kept accidentally saying June 4th for some reason.

FI likes the first one best and I like the third one best (at least for our wedding). I am thinking of asking him to do another verson of the first one where it is a square instead, and uses the pattern in the third one. I'd also ask him to change the color to more of a lavender and then do a grey lace band instead of the patterned band to make it more romantic. Also change the envelopes to a light grey.

Maybe do the font of the 3rd to the shape of the 1st?  The 1st will be cheaper to mail I think?
  • edited December 2011
There are actually only two fonts (the script and the serif) used on all of the invitations (I think). It's just the way he layed them out and bolded the first two.

FI's argument for the first one was that it'll be cheaper to mail. We don't have all that many though (around 50) and so I feel like the amount we save wouldn't be enough to justify doing that one only because of the size.

I definitely think invitation 3 is the best match to the feel of your wedding. Though one thing I noticed and it may just be the font is that on invite 3 all of the food choices names start with capitals.. yet the "F" in filet is lower case... LOVE the rsvp envelopes

I didn't notice that! I'm sure he did it on purpose, for some kind of stylistic reason. If you look carefully on other things (like on the main envelope where he spelled Scott he used different t's) he'll play with things to make it look best to him, instead of going with however it should be.

I think 3 fits the way you describe your wedding best.

Also the filet jumped out at me was well, like you are trying to push it to your guests.

Do you want to use the honour spelling instead of honor?  Which is often used on wedding invites.
Also usually half after is used on wedding invites.
  • edited December 2011
Wait!  Honor is incorrect anyway b/c your wedding is not at a church.  It should be pleasure of your company.

I like the style of #1 and 2, but it looks like a menu or event/marketing card instead of a wedding invitation.  To stick with the theme of your wedding, I think #3 works best (especially the font).

Could you compromise by doing invites most like #3, maybe change the layout to keep it cheaper (keep your FI happy), and then use the style of #1 for menu cards at the table?

Oh thanks! I didn't even know that. And it should be half after 4, not half past 4? I actually just told him to write 4:30 :)

I agree MH. We won't have menu cards, but he is doing the rest of our stationery, like programs, escort cards, thank you cards. My main concern with the first style is that it will be difficult to translate into a ceremony program, where there will be a lot more information to be read. I brought this up to FI and he disagreed with me though, so maybe I'm just not seeing it.

Wow, you FBIL is super talented.

Hands down number 3 fits what you descibed above.  I think it's beautiful and elegant.

..and I really love 1 too, but I think it' feels a little too modern.
