I find this offensive (pet-related)

Looking for a wooden swing set for Maddie on craigslist and found this posting.  Am I being prickly, or does it just seem wrong to list the dog you no longer want right alongside your entertainment center and foosball table?  Like she's just another object to be unloaded.  Maybe I'm being overly sensitive:

Barely used Swing Set with 3 swings (glider & 2 regular swings), disk swing and hammock swing. Covered fort, rock climbing wall, slide and tire swing..Excellent condition. $1000.
Office Desk with Leather chair $300.
Foosball Table - never used $300. Like new.
Pit Bull Puppy - 7 months old/female
Entertainment center/wall unit with lighting (holds up to a 36" tv $1000.

many people do not see pets as anything other than things.  i imagine this is the case with this person, especially considering it is a puppy.

I'm not a pet person, and this rubs me the wrong way.

Are they throwing the puppy in for free?  It doesn't have a price listed.  That's terrible.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

The rescue people go through CL looking for posts just like these. They are not at all uncommon. As hmo said, a lot of people look at dogs/cats like things. Disposable. It is not at all rare for people to give their animals away when they move, have children, etc. It is craptastic.

I agree, not cool. Sounds like they are moving to a smaller place and need to get rid of a lot of stuff, but homes should be forever for a pet. If something happened and I was forced to give up a pet (it would have to be life or death, really) it wouldn't be to a stranger on CL.

Yep, happens all the time. It's ridiculous.

What burns my ass is seeing the "taking deposits for pit bull puppies, gettin' ready to breed my dogs." GAH!

IT's especially heinous to do w/ pitties.

    That dog?
It's either headed for a fighting ring or life as a bait dog if this works.
(and other breeds end up in the same situation.  But more often Itty mixes)
