    Name/FI or H's Name:  Helen/Zach

    Ages:
    22/26

    Wedding Date
(any signifcance to the date?): 10.01.11 We wanted to get married in the fall, so we wouldn't be sweating during pictures!

Where do you live? Madison, WI

Where are you getting married?  Who is a member in the parish (You/your parents/FI?) We're getting married at Holy Wisdom Monastery. It's not my home parish, but we've volunteered there for years, and it's absolutely beautiful.

A bible passage your particularly like: Song of Solomon 2:10-14

A hymn you particularly like: Hosea. I looooove Hosea.

Something you particularly "like" about being Catholic: I really like the sense of community it gives you. You feel like you're part of something bigger than yourself.

Something you find challenging about being Catholic: My parents are divorced, so I have a hard time with the church's stance on divorce and the way it sometimes treats divorced people.

Fun fact about yourself:  I used to be a competitive figure skater!

    Name/FI or H's Name: K & A

Ages: both will be 24 shortly

    Wedding Date
(any signifcance to the date?): 5/16/2009...not really, it was just convenient and we are in FL so wanted to avoid the hottest part of summer

Where do you live? FL--Tampa/St. Pete area

Where are you getting married? We got married in Ocala, FL at Queen of Peace...beautiful church.

Who is a member in the parish (You/your parents/FI?) He was a member at the time but we both attended there...we have since moved away but visit whenever we can

A bible passage your particularly like: First chapter of John's gospel...so unbelievably rich and contains the central event of all history: "the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us"

A hymn you particularly like: i'm not as much into hymns as chant and polyphany...sadly we don't here much of it in the ordinary form. Our wedding setting was Hassler's Mass for 8 Voices and that is probably my favorite.
Something you particularly "like" about being Catholic: Everything! The assurance that the gates of Hell will not prevail against the Church, the Real Presence, a participation in the Heavenly Liturgy, the reverence for human dignity, steadfastness in proclaiming God's unchanging Truth, the "great cloud of witnesses" that is the communion of saints, a Living God who comes to us tangibly in the Sacraments, Theology of the Body which illumines so beautifully our destiny as the Bride of Christ, a tradition and understanding of Scripture that is so deep that one could never reach the end, the help and love we receive from the Blessed Mother, and most especially recently the knowledge that our suffering is never in vain if we suffer with and for Christ.
Something you find challenging about being Catholic: the anger people have stemming from distortions and misperceptions, being in the world but not of the world, and struggling to speak the truth in charity to those who are deceived by this world
Fun fact about yourself: My DH & I met on the March for Life and were engaged at World Youth Day in Sydney

[QUOTE] Fun fact about yourself:  I (along with some of my friends) had an unhealthy obsession with X-Files in high school.  I even had an X-Files-themed 16th birthday party.  I have this giant bin full of X-Files-related stuff at my parents' house.  It's awesome to look back through all of it, lol.

Name/FI or H's Name:  Stephanie and Jean

    Ages: me 29, him 31

Wedding Date (any signifcance to the date?):  5/29/11 no significance

Where do you live? about an hour and a half north of NYC

Where are you getting married?  Who is a member in the parish (You/your parents/FI?) We're getting married at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Poughkeepise. It isn't a church any of us belong to. I'm pretty much the only one that goes on a regular basis and I float between a few different churches depending on where I am on a Sunday morning (home, coming from work, or up by my parents).

A bible passage your particularly like: I'm fairly new to being an active Catholic, so I don't know.

A hymn you particularly like: ditto to above

Something you particularly "like" about being Catholic: Despite initially feeling that the Catholic church is exclusive of many types of people I've found myself to feel very safe an accepted.

Something you find challenging about being Catholic: I feel like there is so much I need to know. I am a representative of the church in my daily life and I always feel at a loss when someone asks me questions about being Catholic. I can answer basic stuff, but you know...I'm no expert.

Fun fact about yourself:  I feel boring most of the time lol. Um....this Easter will be my one year celebration of being brought into the church. And I met my fella on eHarmony.

    M & T

    Ages:
    I am 22 and he is 24

Wedding Date (any signifcance to the date?):
We're getting married on June 3rd of this year. There isn't any significance other than several dates in June were already taken by family birthdays and I didn't feel the need to compete.

    Where do you live?
    Georgia

Where are you getting married?  Who is a member in the parish (You/your parents/FI?)
We are getting married at St. John the Evangelist. We are both members.
It is the same church we were brought into the Faith one year ago this Easter. :)

A bible passage your particularly like:
    Jeremiah 29:11

    A hymn you particularly like:
I'm fairly new at the Faith so I don't know many by name.

Something you particularly "like" about being Catholic:
I love the community. I like knowing that there are literally millions of other people in churches all over the world hearing the same verses and same prayers and having a similar experiences.

Something you find challenging about being Catholic:
I don't like living in Georgia and amongst my family and suddenly facing constant question for my religious beliefs. I live in the Baptist belt where everyone truly believes I have a ticket straight to hell.

    Fun fact about yourself:
I'm pretty boring. My favorite thing is Peanuts like Snoopy and Charlie Brown.

    Name/FI or H's Name:  Hannah/Anthony
    Ages: 29/33
Wedding Date (any signifcance to the date?): Feb 11, 2012, it happens to be my Grandparents anniversary.
    Where do you live?
    Houston, TX
Where are you getting married?  Who is a member in the parish (You/your parents/FI?) St. Ignatius Loyola - Spring, TX.  My fiancee and I attend, although we do not yet qualify as members.
A bible passage your particularly like: Peter 5:10 - And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
A hymn you particularly like:  You won't hear it at church, but for years in choir we sang Kyrie Elision.  I am sure that unfortunately the choir I was with did not understand the meaning, it meant something to me, and we sang it beautifully.
Something you particularly "like" about being Catholic: The Sacrament.  I enjoy the traditions that make you feel at home, no matter if you've attended that particular church before or not.  My priest that baptized me, for otherwise I would have surely chosen another Christian church to marry in.
Something you find challenging about being Catholic: The exclusivity that way it sometimes seems to close it doors, especially to young people.
Fun fact about yourself:  We have two lively dogs, Cam, a 2 year old yellow lab, and Lacey, a 1 year old yellow cocker spaniel/golden retriever mix.  They are so sweet and are teaching me patience.

A bible passage your particularly like: We are using 1 Corinthians 12:31 – 13:8 in our ceremony
A hymn you particularly like: You are Mine,
Here I Am, Lord, Ave Maria, On Eagles Wings
Something you particularly "like" about being Catholic:

Name/FI or H's Name: Katie and Tom

    Ages: 25

Wedding Date (any signifcance to the date?): May 21, 2011....it was the soonest we could get the church and hall after Easter....we were booked for April 30th but changed halls for something better

Where do you live? Ontario Canada

Where are you getting married?  Who is a member in the parish (You/your parents/FI?) The parish I grew up in.  Its in my hometown and not where we live but FI was happy to go back to my hometown for the wedding. My parents are still members there.

A bible passage your particularly like: I particulary enjoy the Song of Songs....but also Matthew 10:8
    "
You received without paying; give without pay."

A hymn you particularly like: If we are speaking traditionally I really like the Summons and You are mine (David Haas). We do Life Teen at my parish and our band uses a lot of Matt Maher (a great Canadian) and I love all his stuff. As we approach Easter....."Christ is Risen" is a great song! I love it when they sing it!!

Something you particularly "like" about being Catholic: I love being able to receive Jesus in the Eucharist!! I also agree with the Communion of Saints and all the holy men and women who have gone before us! Such great examples in faith and great people to ask for prayers!

Something you find challenging about being Catholic: The misunderstanding of the faith. I work for a parish in youth ministry and it's hard to see the gap in catechesis that has happened and how it has led to misunterstandings by Catholics and also by non-Catholics.  I was talking with our associate pastor about this and how the parents of most of our youth have not learned the faith and how we can't expect the kids to know/understand when we first talk to them about faith in the schools (we have a Catholic school system) when their parents, the first teachers of the faith, don't know it themselves. It's a challenge for sure! especially working for the Church.

Fun fact about yourself: My fi and I took possession of our house Friday and I think that is fun!!! I cannot wait to move in in the coming weeks and to have FI join me when we get back from our HM.

I am totally with you on this, girl. I do not care for this state either. And being Catholic in the South is even more of a challenge. Practically all the Baptists believe we aren't "saved" and that we worship Mary. Um, no that would be blasphemous to worship Mary.

This (among other reasons) is why H and I are moving back to our home state in a month or two. Not only do we want to be closer to family and friends when we have our own kids, but I just don't like this state. But I will say it has definitely been a learning experience and culture shock for me.
