not getting RSVPs

So the due date for our RSVPs is april 10th Not received very many back... And I need them soon to order the cake. Is this normal that people wait until the last minute to respond?

Yep!! Or not send them at all and you have to spend time calling/txt/e-mailing them....that has been my biggest issue :(

Oh gosh, that's really gonna frustrate me. Some relatives made such a big deal about not getting an invite, and so we opened our guest list to more people, and now they won't respond

I got a bunch back the week before the due date.

I had 3 invites with no email/phone call or response sent back.  We heard from other people in the family that they weren't going to  make it...and they were the ones that were so SURE they were coming.  Then send back the RSVP as no!!!!!!!!

We've had pretty good response rates, but yesterday was our RSVP date (and FI's bday) and the only ones left who haven't RSVP'd:

    - my MOH and her husband (umm I hope they're coming?)
    - FI's groomsman and his GF
    - FI's friend and his GF
    - my grandpa and his GF

I know my MOH and FI's groomsman/friend are waiting til the end of April to book their trips (prices are sky high right now and my MOH's stepmom said Westjet will drop their prices then?) but I'm worried if prices DON'T drop, that's potentially 6 people we'll lose...which may mean a whole table at Maggiano's...which means we can have a bigger dance floor WITHOUT moving the tables after our slide show....which means one less centerpiece we have to pay for ahh!!! Also losing my MOH  Frown...it kinda pisses me off because I sent them all really good deals at the beginning of the year and they didn't book!! Now prices are high and they're bitchin' UGH!

I don't know if you guys did this, but I have a "RSVP Yes" and a "Booked" column on my guest list tracking spreadsheet, because even if they told us they're coming, until I know they've actually made travel arrangements I know not to count on it!

I have about a week left before my RSVP date and I'd say only about a 50% response.  I'd say go ahead and order your cake.  It never hurts to have extra cake!

I love your  guest tracking idea with the travel booked column.

I have a RSVP column where I put Yes/No, then I have a hotel column where I write where they are booked. I didn't officially put anyone in hte yes column unless they have a hotel room. Also,  a few have told me about hotel reservation but didn't send back their RSVP card, so I put them down as Yes. Hope this all makes sense :)

Well our RSVP date was yesterday and my side has all theirs in but FI side is slow, we are waiting for 10 families to respond which they should have already we have to have the final numbers to LV Cake Designs next Thursday so I am going to email FMIL and have her deal with the issue.

    Good Luck!

FI's father and GF just made their arrangements.  The prices are high with Westjet now.  We booked in December when a seat sale came on.  I sent the info to all the guests (20 people) and almost everyone booked.  I also emailed them a 30% off room rate at Mirage back in November.  Again, most people jumped on board.  So now it kind of pisses me off that the prices are too high and they won't book the Mirage now.  Instead, they booked the Flamingo.  They are the only ones who are not at Mirage.  I have transportation planned that only involves stopping at the Mirage.  Not to mention I am on the wait list for a Cabana the day after our wedding.  All guests are invited...but you have to be staying at the Mirage to get in.

Ugh, what a pain in the butt. I guess Fi's Father and GF will have to come to the Mirage to ride with everyone else. I'm sure the cabana issue will resolve itself.

we had 2 stamped envelopes out of 50 plus invites returned....so much for thinking my king and queen stamps were super cute. :(
we had to call people and after a point, i put out the word that if you didn't rsvp, i considered you as not coming. no unexpected guests.

I did online RSVPs, and only got about half of them by Friday, which was the deadline.  Thankfully our guest list is small, so getting hold of everyone for their answers hasn't been a huge problem.  I left myself plenty of time, Scott needs my head count by next Wednesday.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

PS. Thanks mloeks it makes me feel much better that your non-existant RSVP's all turned out to be no shows. At least it gives me something to expect...
