What to look for in an alterations person??? Mini freak out!!

About a month ago I started looking for a seamstress to alter my wedding dress. The first lady I met (who never saw my dress) said she takes dresses in on the sides. The second lady I met (who actually has my dress right now) said she wouldn't take the dress in on the sides because it has boning, and is going to take it in at the zipper on the back. I go see her tomorrow because I got my undergarmets, which means she will start working on my dress.
My dress doesn't need to be taken in that much

So who is right?

  • If your dress does in fact have boning on the sides then the second lady would be correct. I would not worry about it. All seamstresses know how to take in a dress, its when you get to the more complicated things like adding panels and corset backs that you would have to worry
