Adult Only Wedding and Reception - How do I word this?

SO....We are having an adult only wedding and reception, however we are allowing kids over the age of 12. Our wedding is on a Friday night and the reception will not be starting until nearly 8pm. I am just ot sure how to put this on the invite. We want the adults to have a good time and not have to leave because of sleepy kids. The RB and the FG will be at the reception for the dinner but we have arranged for a babysitter to take them home. What do I do?

    You don't word anything on the invitation.  You address the invitation to Mom, Dad and whatever children over 12.  You do not include the names of the younger children.

    If you think your guests won't get it, you can go a step further and pre-fill the RSVP card to include the names of those invited.  

    Just like with any other uninvited guests, you'll have to call and clarify if they try to add on extras.

    <div>This exactly.  It is considered bad etiquette to put anything like "Adults only reception" on the invitation.  </div>

    The problem with saying "adults only" (outside of the etiquette problem) is that you aren't do adults only.  You are doing some children only.

    You can start spreading it by word of mouth.
