J. crew gown alterations

Hi,
I bought my dress at J. crew and so they cannot recommend tailors.
I need only to have the dress shortened and a bra sewn in, but alteration reviews have me scared. Either you need to buy the dress at the shop where the seamstress works, or they seem totally unreliable OR overpriced.

Has anyone had any good experiences with a regular tailor that can handle simple gown alterations in the boston area?

    Indeed - your local board is the way to go.  (Unless you want to come to Long Island, where my MOH had the same alterations done on her J. Crew wedding dress by a local seamstress.)
