taffeta and satin

So I promised to not get bogged down in the details that I would NEVER notice in someone else's wedding... however... I have a satin wedding dress... would taffeta bridesmaid dresses look odd next to it?  Anyone done this?

That might look alittle wierd, my dress had a chiffon overlay and the BM dress (black) had a chiffon over lay too and they looked great together. I originally wanted them to wear a silk dress but it looked to wierd with my dress. If you already got the BM dresses then don't worry about it, it's no big deal, but if you haven't maybe you can look around more.

My dress is satin with a chiffon overlay and my bridesmaids are wearing silk taffeta dresses from JCrew.  I don't think there is anything that would "clash", or if there is, it would never occur to 99% of people to even notice.  The materials are both a bit shiny, in different ways.

Not weird at all.  As long as the dresses are similar in the formality (if your dress is super-casual, don't put them in floor-length heavy satin formal gowns) you're good to go.

I don't think anyone is going to care.. but if it concerns you... Go to a fabric store and hold both fabrics next to each other. If it looks odd.. then you know you won't like it the day of.
