  My fiance and I are doing all our photos before the ceremony in October and we are doing a "first look" photo.  I was against it at first too, but realized he will still see me for the first time the day of our wedding and it will be just as special....maybe even more so since it'll be just us and the photographer.  And like many posters commented, I want to enjoy my guests, mingle, get hugs, and have fun after the reception....not try to take pictures why the guests wait.  And this way, I can take some photos with the guests that I may not have been able to otherwise.
