Wedding Planner Meal -Where to sit?

Hi everyone,
I have hired a fabulous wedding planner but was just wondering if I should include her in the seated menu and sit her with our guests for dinner or include her in the vendor meals my caterer is providing (which will be in a separate room).  The difference in cost is about $100-$120.

Thanks

Re: Wedding Planner Meal -Where to sit?

  • I'm not 100% on this one but I think the wedding panner is a vendor and sits with the other vendors.

    Perhaps you should ask?
  • I would think the vendor meal, because she is providing you with a service as a vendor does. But I could be wrong since I don't have a wedding planner and don't really know the logistics.
  • I would say vendor meal.  That is what I plan on feeding my wedding planner and photographer.  (And whomever else requires a meal)
  • Vendor meal, of course

  • vendor meal and not seated with your guests.  our officiant is seated with guests but other vendors will be ideally working and will dine in a separate area when they have their breaks.

  • The planner we are using actually had a tell all portion of her blog awhile ago where she interviewed photographers, videographers, etc. They all mentioned their top wishes. One of them was to have the vendor table located in the room. They said it allowed them to be right there in the action if something unexpected happened. We are going to do a vendor table in the room, though towards the back (so they don't have to abandon their equipment, etc). They will have a separate (hot) meal, but they can relax a bit while still being available for any surprises.
  • Some vendors have a hot meal in their contract...  After 8 hours of shooting, cold cuts don't always do the trick.

I've seen too many brides give vendors the shaft (I'm an assistant from time to time), and it just kills me... most vendors really work their a$$es off to make the day as perfect as they can.
You might be paying them a big chunk of change, but they're still human and don't have time to get themselves a hot meal in town and make it back for you to cut the cake.

  • Our vendors ate chicken, one of the meal options.  And they all sat at a table, in the main room.  When they needed to, the photographer and videographer got up and did their jobs.

Our planner never sat down, come to think of it.  All through dinner, she was up checking on us and was all over the place talking to the staff and DJ.
