Same here. A lot of the people fighting with me were horrendous at spelling or putting together a coherent sentence. These are the same people who say things like, "If you're gonna live in this country, speak the language!!"

I am absolutely for and fine with a mosque being built wherever the hell they want to build it. But I'm surprised there hasn't been as much seen or heard about the Greek Orthodox church that was at Ground Zero and destroyed in 9/11. BUT, I'm sure that church being rebuilt wouldn't be a source of political turmoil. People are so damn stupid sometimes and set in believing that "dem Muslims did this" (quote from FB).

I think, at least from my experience, while Americans say they accept all religions the main population definitely does not. It's very much a "your actions do not reflect your words" type of thing. I also think that the ladies/gent on theknot are much more accepting and intelligent than most of the people complaining about having a non-Christian president.

As much as I dislike Obama nethier his religion (whether it be Muslim, Christian, Judaism, etc. etc.) nor his race affect how I view him. I simply don't care.

I think the people building the community center with a mosque in it legally have the right to build it within blocks of ground zero; however I do not think it is an intelligent or sensitive idea. While Islam is not a hateful religion and would never condone such actions as what took place on 9/11 that doesn't change the fact that such atrocities were committed in the name of Allah and for Islam (in the minds of the terrorists).

He was the first Catholic and first Irish American president. There was concern that because of his religion, it would give the Pope and the Catholic church too much power and influence on policy.

Right or wrong, the people in this country have had concerns about candidates religion and background for a long time. It didn't just all of sudden start with Obama. And he won't be the last. People are already talking about Romney being Mormon.

JFK almost lost the election to Nixon because of this.

I'm so glad to see this post, living in NC I hear all the asinine comments about Obama constantly and the whole Mosque issue. I feel so alone a lot of the time because I take the same stance as most of you. Obama is not a Muslim, Obama is an American born citizen and I am all for freedom of religion so build the mosque already. People act silly with their hatred and fear, while I do my best not to engage in conversations that include bashing, some people just want or need the drama and won't let it go. We all need someone to blame, so why not the President and the Muslim community. I need someone to blame too...I BLAME THE CAST OF SOUTH PARK...that damn Towlie...

If you don't like the President because you disagree with his politics, or his social views, or think he's too elitist, or doesn't understand the "common people", or because he likes basketball or goes on too many trips while in office, fine.
