Re: Proof invite please?

  • Our wedding is going to be pretty casual, and the making it legal line is intentionally funny and a play on our Save the Date card. We're doing a theme wedding and it fits into that.

What is the reasoning behind not having a zip code on the invitation? I've never heard that. Thanks for the tips though!

  • Making it legal??!  That's really terrible....

Also, "The cut-off date for reserving
a room in the block is five in the evening local time on August 17th."  Most people just say "please reserve by August 17th" instead.

Will you be listing the name of the venue?  You just mention street, city, state. (agree w/ PP, leave zip code out).

I am also not a big fan of cutesy saying on wedding invitations.  So I would ditch the "legal" part.  Also, just curious.....what kind of theme does this play into?

And definitely get rid of the time cutoff for the room reservation.

</div><div>The venue name and more details are listed on a directions insert. The ceremony and reception are being held in the same location. I didn't want to repeat the name of the place on the invite and the insert and there was more room on the insert.</div><div>
</div><div>We're doing a 1920's theme and while some of our older relatives might not appreciate the casual-ness of our invite, it really fits our personalities. My parents and his parents both reviewed it and weren't offended and that's all I really care about.

I think I would still include the name of the venue on the invite.  I don't think I've ever seen an invite without it.  Even if there is another insert.   Just my opinion.

As for the wording, it wouldn't be my choice of words......but that's why it's YOUR wedding....do what makes YOU happy! :)
