Wedding Invitations & Paper

Addressing the invitations for specific situtions

I am putting the addresses on the invitations and I just ran into something I need some advice on. I'm not sure if I am addressing it correctly. We have some family friends who adopted their nieces/nephew. The children kept their last name. So, the kids have different last names than the parents. How would I address that?

Re: Addressing the invitations for specific situtions

  • Ok, so I'm not 100% sure what is the the exact proper way, but my family is like that because of step-parents and siblings (my mom kept her madien name when she got remarried). We get things addressed:

Mrs. Jane Doe and Mr. John Smith
    Lisa Jones
    Bart Jones

Sometimes that's too long to fit on an envelope, so we've gotten: Mrs. Jane Doe and Mr. John Smith and Family, or The Mrs. Jane Doe and John Smith Family and occasionally we'll even get a The Doe-Smith-Jones Family. and then the inner envelope is addressed like above.
