I'm going to go against the grain myself, as I am a bride (and by the way I HATE surprizes and its generally because of this sort of situation happening) and I will have one bridal shower in my life...the Red Sox (or insert favorite sports team) play like 1000 games at home a season in which I can attend to my little heart's desire for years and years and years. That said, at my one bridal shower in which many people came to see me, I have to now make a choice to either A) visit with my out-of-town family and friends who spent a lot of time and money to come see me and who will not be attending the game and loose my money that I spent on the tickets that friend coaxed me into buying (knowing full well that my shower was a mere few hours prior) or B)attend the game with out-of-town friends who came a long way and spent a lot of money and time to travel to see me and will be disappointed that I bailed on them.

A lot of these posts are forgetting who is caught in the middle here.
