Wording help. . .please?

We are having an October wedding and me and my FI our hosting it. I don't know how to really word my invites. I have a little sample of what I thought my sound pretty good. I just want some more opinions on what others  think about it. Any suggestions are welcome!

We decided on forever...
and forever begins when we,
Melissa Lee
and
Charles Bradley
get married
on October 9th, 2018
at 7:30 p.m.
docked at
The Biltmore Hotel
Bolton Landing, New York

Reception to follow

  • Is that date correct? If so, you have PLENTY of time to worry about these. Years. In any case...

Personally, I think that straightforward is always best. This is a little bit casual sounding, and slightly confusing. I'd suggest something like this, and you can always do a little poem or something at the very top:

The pleasure of your company is requested
    at the marriage of
    Bride's Full Name
    and
    Groom's Full Name
    on the ninth of October
    year spelled out
    at half after seven o'clock
    The Biltmore Hotel
    Bolton Landing, New York

    Reception to follow

I wasn't sure about "docked at". Is this on a boat? I'd try to say something more specific than what you have, because it doesn't really say where the wedding is.
  • I don't think you need to try to hard to be "cute" with your wording.  I like Leisel's wording.  that's how we did ours, except that on the second line, we changed it slightly:

The pleasure of your company is requested
    to witness the marriage of

Mostly because, some of our friends thought we were having a private, immediate family only ceremony... and the reception was just going to be the party.  But, we decided on a different venue so everyone could see the ceremony.  So, I didn't want folks strolling up late thinking it was just an informal, casual party.
  • PS - wedding invites should never be in the "first person".  Even if you and your fiance host it, you should avoid "we" words.
  • What you have does not invite the receiver to attend anything. The advice given by previous posters is perfect.

Okay girls how about this? This is MINE and not a bunch of sample stuff.

He proposed to her on bended knee,
He asked "Will you travel through life with me?" (Top poem as LeiselEB suggested, and I also use her wording. Hope that's okay! :) )

Thanks and thanks for the help! One more question. When you are wording the reply cards when should the RSVP date be? A month before the wedding?
