I am planning a "destination" wedding in St. Joe since my fiancé and I live in Chicago but have gone to college in Michigan as well as vacationed all our lives there. It means a lot to us to be in this area but since we have no long-term ties to the area in the way of a church (lutheran) we are at a disadvantage. We are hesitant about an outdoor beach ceremony, knowing the unpredictability of michigan's weather, but aren't set on a church. Does anyone have any ideas for us? If you recommend a church, do you know if we have to be members to get married there? It doesn't have to be right in St. Joe but in close proximity (5-10miles).
