Re: Wednesday Wedding QOTD

  • That's why nothing was outside.  I would have LOVED a garden wedding, but I had lived in that part of Virginia for 24 years, and I knew the weather in June could not be trusted.

It rained for maybe 10 minutes right before the ceremony started, but we had already taken some pics outside, and by the time the ceremony was over, the sun was back out.

We had TONS of umbrellas, though, so if we did have to walk out to the car in the rain, it would have been fine.

When my brother got married in October, outside, next to a river, they had no backup plan, which drove my parents insane.  It was freaking cold, too.
  • The venue we had booked before we decided to move the date further out, was a historic house. It had plenty of room inside to move the wedding. We were having an outdoor ceremony with indoor reception so it would have been in the reception area...which would have been a "dinner and show" type deal :(

But now since we moved the date, I haven't developed a new plan.

  • It doesn't rain in San Francisco in May where we had our wedding. But it actually rained the day before, and that made me very nervous! Before then, I was mostly worried about fog which is common in San Francisco at that time of year. Even though it would be an indoor wedding, I wanted great pictures and I didn't want to freeze in my strapless dress. But we had clear sunny skies. We did have some wind, so I didn't get many photos with my veil outside, which disappointed me just a tad.
  • I am worried about thunder storms and humidity that VA is known for in the spring/summer. As of now, the "forecast" is 90's with sun.

If it rains, I will get dressed in the bathroom below the church (instead of one of the rooms at the reception building) and the guys will have to use plan B for entering the church from outside since they were going to hide out downstairs before the wedding started.

  • It will be October... I could have rain or snow or a hurricane... Bring it on ...

  • Everything is indoors. The only problem we may face is getting from the Homestead where we are getting ready to the barn where the ceremony is. But, with the help of some great men, hairspray and umbrellas, all will be fine.

  • We got married in December.  In Oregon, that means it was 100% chance of rain :-P  We had an indoor ceremony and indoor reception.

We gave two of my cousins large golf umbrellas and they escorted people indoors.  Everyone loved that.

We did everything inside.  All pictures, everything.  I literally don't even remember what the weather was like on my wedding day, lol.

ETA:  I looked it up.  It was apparently mostly cloudy with a high of 72 on November 19, 2011, in my area.

  • Our resort has a boat house and an indoor room so we can have our choice the day of if its raining but I really hope it doesn't, the patio is SO pretty!
  • We're getting married outdoors, but the venue has an indoor option for back-up. We were warned about snow... in JUNE... so we'll see! FI is hoping for snow just for the story haha

We have an inside backup reserved. I really hope we don't have to use it!!

I'm worried about rain but doubt we'll get any. If the temperature dips below 60 they'll move us inside. I'm hoping that it's warmer than that or that I can convince them to let us stay outside!!

No possibility of snow being in FL. :)

  • It was beautiful!  We planned an indoor ceremony and reception.  Richmond in June is likely to be HOT, so there was no way I was going to plan anything for outside.  It was pretty mild though, so we did (separate) pre-ceremony pics in the church courtyard and a few outside pics at the reception.

We had an indoor ceremony (church) and indoor reception.  The patio at the reception had a covered area.

We didn't have a backup plan for pictures, I was just hoping it wouldn't rain!  We could have always done them at the church or at the hall, we would have figured it out.
  • We booked a venue with a big enough ballroom that if needed the ceremony could held inside.  We aren't too far from the ocean, so I'm hoping the weather is nice so we can take some pictures on the beach Smile
  • Everything was indoors but we weren't worried about weather.

  • Our ceremony is supposed to be outside of a barn in a field kind of area.  If it rains we'll just have the ceremony in the barn.  My mom thinks that's going to be the worst thing ever if it happens, but I honestly don't care.  It rains?  It rains.  I love the barn.  It's beautiful on the inside.
