The Nest

I was bored at work and ventured over to  to the nj board on the nest for the first time.  Just to check out, I'm not planning on leaving this board any time soon! Anyway, I felt like I was on another planet.  Maybe it's because it seems like it's almost all baby and kid talk.  I guess I thought the bump was more of a site for moms.  Not that "mom talk" is bad, I'm just not at that point in my life.  I didn't look around much, but I didn't see any knotties and/or former knotties on there.  Honestly when I started posting here, I never thought I would do it on a regular basis and check in here every day.  However, I'm pretty sure I'll never become a regular "Nestie", if that's what it's called!
Anyone else feel the same way?

The ladies on the nest are great.  It takes some time to get used to, but it rreally isn't all baby talk, while a lot of it is, they do talk about lots of other stuff.  And there def. are lots of former knotties over there if you stick around!!

I agree. You just need to lurk for a little while and post when they ask something harmless to get your post count up a little. Many of them were knotties back when the knot was VERY honest! You'll get used to it if you are interested. Some things are more baby focused....but they also talk about other things too.

I post from time to time.  They are nice, but also snarky as hell!

That is what makes it great!  And they are snarky but honest usually!   LOL

I also figured the Bump was more baby stuff anc the nest was more general. Kind of funny that they are all snarky. Now I might have to go over there just to see what you are all talking about.

I post on the NJ Nest board once in a while. Most of them seem nice. There IS an awful lot of Mommy talk on there, so I just tune out most of those posts. Sometimes there are good discussions on non-kid topics, and recommendations for local restaurants and businesses and stuff.

There's drama there once in a while - trolls, passive-aggressive callouts. I just ignore the board those days. To me, "snark" can be fun but "drama" is just stupid.

I like a lot of the Nest's national boards - Entertainment, Family Matters, Money Matters, Travel, What's Cooking.

I think it depends on which board you are on. Some are definitely drinking the crazy juice, but I lurk over on the cooking board a bit and like it. I do find a lot of baby talk, but I think there is a babies NOT on the brain "BNOTB" board. I'm definitely not leaving TK any time soon either!

Anyone ever click through to the Bump? I did once and now I get ALL these emails about "what your baby is doing now". Uh....

I go check out the Local NJ Nest board every now and then. They all seem to have become friends over the years which is nice. But I agree that they are very honest and snarky. I guess it takes some getting used to?

I agree with MBC - I usually post on the national boards like Money Matters or Health & Fitness. The women there are all also very honest, definitely some snark, but I guess because I have been lurking and posting on those more often, I feel more comfortable there.

I don't like the NJ Nest board -- nice girls, but way too much baby talk, and way too much posting just for the sake of posting.  I really like Money Matters (not just about money, and not much baby talk) and Fashion & Beauty (very, very little baby talk), and I find that Pets and Health & Fitness can be really helpful (although you kind of have to know the groundrules for those boards or else you may get flamed).
