Tasting Menu - sampling ideas

Instead of haveing a few choices we are considering a tasting menu where there will be SMALL portions of  protien/veg protien/carb for everyone to try.  No one will pick what they want, they will all eat the same and be served each selection.  We are thinking of:

Hummus / spreads and infused oils and artisan breads Family Style at the table
Then Individual
Mini Crabcake and a bacon wrapped scallop over salad
stuffed chicken breast and baby carrot or other petite vegetable
mini beef wellington and garlic mashed

Then have a dessert station / venetial hour and after all the fancier tasting foods are done.  We want to serve mini baby burgers, fries and milkshake shooters in  to go boxes while everyone is winding up the night and heading home.

We need some more small plate ideas for our selection please let me know what you think would be an amazing few good bites to wow our guests.

Does that appeal to your crowd?

While I think it's a great idea, if I served that to my guests i'd probaby get raised eyebrows.

I'm all about variety and mini portions, but it all boils down to does it work for you.

On the topic of finger food though: I recently tried jalapeno and marinaded backstrap wrapped in bacon grilled - absolutely delicious.

I think it sounds cool, but you definitely need to have a vegetarian option or two. Many meat eaters will eat vegetarian, but vegetarians won't eat meat ;-)

Rather than a plated meal, if you go this way I think you could do stations: pot pie station, carving station, slider station, whatever.

my venue is not a catering hall and I only have 60 guests.  I know no one in my family is a vegetarian and I have on person who needs a kosher meal.  Ive been told that stations are expensive because instead of 1 piece served per person, they need to triple and quadruple the amount of food we order from them because there is no guarantee what people will pick.  I;m staying away from stations for price even though I love the idea!

    Thanks for the feedback
