IF thank you notes are late

MY son got married in May.  I learned this evening that none of my family has received thank you notes.  How should I deal with this?

Re: IF thank you notes are late

  • Tell your son to send thank you cards immediately and apologize for the delay.
  • Let him know how incredibly rude he and his new wife are to not send out thank you notes. I would say apologize to those who haven't recieved a note, but he's an adult, he should be the one who feels bad about it, not you.
  • And please do not let him get away with trying to lay the blame on his new wife.  Remind him about how you taught him to write thank you notes as soon as he could write.

  • Tell him you raised him better than that and no exscuse is acceptable. He needs to start writting!
  • Miss Manners has instructions on what he should do, at this link.  As to what you should do, he is an adult and you are not responsible for his failure to act like one.   About the best you can do is say to him, "Aunt Edna asked me to make sure you got the crystal candy bowl she sent you, since she never got a thank-you note from you."

This exactly! The are adults and while it is very rude to not send TY notes, you cannot be responsible for their behavior.

    I agree.

  • I had a friend who got married in October last year and sent out her thank you's like 2 months ago.  They made up for it by coming up with a clever poem saying they're sorry that the notes were late.

I hate when people lack common sense though, I'm still waiting on another thank you for something I sent out for a wedding in May...
