*Stacks and Fishy*

I am so totally late to the GM thread, but I just wanna say that I super duper heart that Folgers commercial.  I have it video taped on a Christmas Eve 1987 recording of "Meet Me In St. Louis".  Hahaha.  That is the one commercial I remember the most - I don't know why.  I wish I still had a VCR so that I could watch that just to see the commercials.  Did you see that they were actually replaying that commercial either last year or the year before, and they actually made a new one this year?

  • :)  It's like a forever heartwarming commercial for sure.  Didn't it first come out around Desert Storm so it was like super duper emotional having someone home for the holiday?  That would put me in 5th grade I think.  Not that I watch commercials these days - but they can't ever touch the ones we saw growing up.  I wish I could find it but there was this kleenex one that made me cry every single time.  I was an emotional child apparently.
  • Definitely before Desert Storm - like I said - I have it videotaped from Christmas 1987.  I don't know if that was the first year or not.

I always took it to mean he was coming home from wherever he lived at that point to surprise his family.  I never thought he was in the military or anything since he was in regular clothes.

  • It's one of the best commercials ever. I LOVED when that commercial came on. And then they redid it and it was kind of this weird exchange between the two of them that was more bordering on being lovey dovey than heart warming.

  • I love that commercial. My brother is 18 years older than me and was always away. Christmas time was such a fun time because he came home and I got to spend time with him. :)
