Ok ladies...

So I am completely lost...

What do you do once you book your venue?

I feel like I am ALL over the place and have no idea where to start.

If your venue doesn't provide food then you should find a caterer next.

I think finding the photographer is a top priority too so you'll want to look into that.

Did you already pick a dress?

Photographer is the next most important cause you dont want them to reserve your date 4 someone else.

I will agree that booking a photographer is the next big thing, because the good ones book fast. You may want to check The Knot checklist. Also, The Knot sends handy e-mails to let you know what the next step is, so look out for those.

Photographer, flowers, and then cake.

Flowers, Catering and Cake are included with the venue.

No dress yet...I did go look at some last weekend...but nothing that said "The One" to me...

I havent been getting emails from theknot...I wonder what the deal is with that.

As far as photographer goes, how do you find a good one? Do you start with the preferred vendors from the venue or what?

yeah u can start there, but I would say go to a bridal show if at all possible cause you can find good ones in your area.

I actually went to a bridal show a few weeks ago and got some brochures and there is one place that I won a free bridal fashion photo shoot ($150 value) and if you book by Dec 31, you get an additional $300 off BUT do you go with someone just because of their specials?

Then there is also another place that does wedding AND videography for $1500 which is a WONDERFUL price but how do you know if their work is any good, ya know?

I am chiming in late. I would definitely say photographer and dress. Go photogs go fast, and your dress may take 6-7 months to come in depending the designer.

Re: Your question, no you dont necessarily book someone on their specials, look at the quality of their work, what you get for the money, and what style they shoot in (traditional, photojournalistic)... HTH

You can check your local board for their vendors blog that previous brides reccomend and start there for photogs also.

Like ksturgis suggested, ask around on your local board. They should be able to give some good recs for photographers.
