Non-Religious Ceremony Readings

Hi knotties!
I need some input!  Anyone having any non-religious readings at their ceremonies?  We would like to have two and one of them will be read by our friends who are a gay couple (which doesn't really matter except to those that don't want to input because of that!)  Corinthians has been done and done so we won't be doing that one.  Looking forward to anyones help!

Re: Non-Religious Ceremony Readings

  • We had a blessing at the beginning, an Irish prayer, and Oh, the Places You'll Go! by Dr. Suess before our recessional.

  • You and your fi should try to find something that's meaningful to you both. For example, my fiance and I are both avid readers, and we usually read at least one book together at the same time, so we'd probably pick a something from our favorite book. I also happen to be a poet, so I might surprise him with having a reading from a poem of my mine.

Talk with your fi about anything like, books or maybe a heritage, that you guys share or both really like and pick something from that.

Our readings were the Prayer of Saint Francis of Asisi (clicky) and I Promise by Dorothy Colgan (clicky).

We have an excerpt from Pride & Prejudice and Slowness by Milan Kundera.

Fi found his reading by going to the author pages on Goodreads. Each author page has a list of favorite quotes-he just looked up his favorite authors and scrolled through until he found a passage that he liked.
