OH MY GOD   I LOVE LOVE LOVE the guitar card box idea!!!  That is soo amazing

I want to do a music type theme because I am in love with music and FI and I are huge DMB fans so our table names our Dave Matthews songs/lyrics

What steps did you have a do to make that into a card box?? My brother in law has a really old guitar that he never uses and said we could use it for whatever.....

Thanks!  My fiance did all of the work on the guitar, but here's a rundown on what I think he did.

First he cut a hole in the side of the guitar that we think will be big enough for the cards.  Getting the cards out again might be a challenge, but we'll figure that out later :)

The rest of the work was just cosmetic.  The guitar we found was just a cheap one from a pawn shop -- it was originally black, so he had it painted ivory.  (his dad is an autobody teacher, so we got a free paint job on it).  The swirly lines were hand pin-striped by my fiance.  The rosette is made up of small adhesive pearls that we had left over from making our invitations.  He also replaced the tuners with shiny silver ones, and added electric strings -- so they're shinier, but the sound is awful.

You can really get creative with the decorations!  Especially if you don't care whether it's playable.  Or if you like the look of the old guitar you already have, all you really need to do is cut out the hole in the side for cards.

    awesome! Thanks for the help!

I already sent this pic to my sister and cousin (the crafty ones) and said-- here's our first project! haha   It's so different and unique and I think our quests would love it. Our colors are dark purple and champagne so even the purple looked nice haha But I don't know if we have the talent to pull off what he did.

As for getting the cards out--- eh, like you said-- we'll deal with that later ;)

    Thanks for the great idea!

For getting the cards out -- my fiance wanted me to smash up the guitar like a rock star while wearing my wedding dress.  It would make for great pictures, but I wouldn't want to destroy the guitar he worked so hard on!

    Good luck with your project!
