Wedding Invitations & Paper

Font

I have a family friend designing my invitations.  She's emailed me a first sample and I love it.  She has all of the info in a printed font and our names in script.  She asked for comments on the fonts so she can make changes.  I don't love the font, it looks kind of like Times New Roman, which I think is a bit plain for a wedding invite.  Any suggestions for a fancier looking print?

Re: Font

  • Id check out www.dafont.com and see if one of those jumps out at you. Then send her the link and she can find something similar that she already has or download the new font. Some common "block" fonts for wedding invites: copperplate, Georgia, chevalier, caravelle, armory. chevalier is really cool, we used that for some of our stationery. Cool script fonts: swash, Carlotta, Brugues. Edwardian is a really common one.

Have a look around Abstract fonts, too.  http://www.abstractfonts.com/
    Lots of good ones.
  • Thanks for the recommendations!  I'll check them out.
  • Also, I've seen plenty of invitations that use Times New Roman, but set in small caps or all caps. It changes the look. I used Serlio for my block and Bickham for my script.
