Snarky Brides

Good Morning!

I stayed home sick today, so I'm just kind of hanging out right now.  How were all of your weekends?

Mine was pretty good.  H surprised me at work on Friday with a bottle of wine from the winery where we held senior prom.  Saturday he took me out to lunch at a local upscale restaurant that I've been dying to try.  Yesterday our Redskins won and I made some of the most delicious pork chops we've ever had.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Re: Good Morning!

  • Wow B1 That sounds like an awesome weekend. You deserve a sick day for that!

Last night FI and I went to ACL to see the Flaming Lips and the Eagles. While we were waiting for the Eagles to start, we could hear Norah Jones on a nearby stage. I am not one for all day festivals, or concerts where I don't already know the words, so this was the perfect taste of the 3 day festival for us. The Flaming Lips were very entertaining, and the Eagles, of course, were simply amazing. I probably have very little voice left today, and I am probably guilty of piracy for the videos I posted on FB last night, but I had to share, especially with my dad.

This week is my first full week of transition at work. I have my regular monthly meeting with my boss this morning, and then 3 months of bank reconciliations to catch up on. Should be fun! I probably won't be around much this week, though. Boo!

I hope you all have a great week. Happy Monday!

  • That sounds like a good time, Sarah.  H loves those 3 day festivals but I get bored by the end of day 2.  A 1 day version sounds perfect.

Good luck this week.  We'll miss you.

  • Sounds like an awesome weekend, B! I went to my uncle's wedding yesterday and had a great time seeing family. It was a small wedding at their house, maybe 30 people, mostly family, and great food.

Today I'm contemplating stopping the toe medicine I've been using. It's this special cream I put on every night, then wrap my toe in duct tape and remove it in the morning. But it takes the skin off and forms a scab that aches constantly (it's designed to prevent more plantars warts), and lately my toenail has been aching, or the skin around it has. So I'm wondering if I'm doing more damage by using it. I only have a little bit left so I can't decide if I should stop or not.
  • Do you have to use duct tape, Sesh? That sounds a little too harsh for something that's trying to heal.

  • Wow, you guys had awesome-sounding weekends! :) B, I hope you feel better.

This weekend we celebrated our anniversary by going through the city and walking through our first date locations. :) It was actually H's idea and he took snapshots of each spot. Then we had dinner at the restaurant where our "rehearsal" dinner was held last year, then went to an improv show. Lots of fun!

  • Good Morning, Ladies!  Had a great weekend - spa day with my friend, hosted by her H for a bday surprise.  Bike ride and hike with friends, DH put ribs on the smoker, and we celebrated my daughter's bday with dinner last night.

BUSY week ahead!  Quarter close - B & Sarah, you feel my pain.  Auditors are here, plus an office giving campaign festival today and tomorrow.  I'm putting raynes' pie recipe against the entire building in the 'big' bake-off tomorrow.

Sesh - your new siggy of GirWhisky is too cute.  I'm trying to get pics of Cheddar and Muenster together - they're playing a little bit now, but most of their interaction is still of the chasing variety.

    Have a great day, everyone.

  • My weekend was good. Today is thanksgiving Monday so no work. But tons to do.

Yesterday evening I called my dad and he told me that my brother (a GM) is coming to the wedding on the Saturday of the wedding. He lives 6 hours away and is going to leave in the morning and drive out to be here by around noon. This is because he starts a new job (his first job in over 6 months)

Okay, so I decided that I didn't like it but I could live with it, he would be there. The rehearsal isn't a big deal. Whatever.

This morning I awoke to an email from him that said that he starts his new job today and that he doesn't know yet if he works on Saturday or not. Wait a second...that is NOT what I was told last night. So now apparently he might not be there at all.

I am pissed and I know I shouldn't be. A new job is way more important than my wedding. I get it. But I am still pissed because I come last as usual. My brothers have been such a PIA throughout this whole process. They are both in the WP, we had to chase them down to get their tuxes, we paid for their tuxes and now we are 5 days out (HOLY F*UCK, we are five days out) and one of them might not be there. I know I am being selfish but I don't care...it pisses me off anyways. And no, it isn't 100%, I will know later tonight if it is. But if I had to guess I would imagine that the store he works at (computer repair) is open on weekends so I would imagine that he will be working.

    Okay. Rant over. Sorry.
  • Ugh audits :(  I hope it's as painless as possible, Les.

Beatles, that sounds like a great way to celebrate your anniversary.

  • Good morning!  My weekend was pretty good.  Friday night I went with my FSIL and FMIL to this cupcake thing at MIL's church.  It was a seminar given by one of the winners of Cupcake Wars (lady out of Orlando).  I've never watched the show but her cupcakes were awesome! lol.

And two big reasons I love my FMIL. 1 - The whole ordeal with FI's cousin getting engaged after invites went out and wanting to bring his now FI (who he'd only been dating a month) to the wedding.  Well, I had decided to just say fine, bring her.  Before I could convey that to FMIL this weekend, she got annoyed with the cousin's mom and just told her no.  So, I didn't even have to deal with the situation. I love her.  2 - she spent all last week cooking and freezing meals for us to bring home.  So we have about 2 weeks worth of home-cooked dinners in the freezer.  I LOVE her!

Hope you ladies are having a wonderful morning!

  • oh Seshat..my sister in law has been trying to get rid of her planters warts for the past year so I know how frustrated you must be...it is not a fun process.

I am jealous of everyone's nice weekends...mine was not nearly as exciting! (Although turkey is always fun).

The doc said to use duct tape because it somehow is better for removing traces of the virus. How, I have no idea. But I'm thinking that because she told me to cover my toe with tape, the medicine is getting beneath the toenail, which is why it hurts so bad. I think for the next couple days I"m going to try just a bandaid and see what happens. It's been close to 10 months of this crap and I'm tired of it.

ETA--numbers! 5 days, exciting! Enjoy this week, try not to be too stressed out.
  • My FSIL uses duct tape too...it seemed weird to me too but that's what her doc said to do.

  • My daughter had a plantar wart on her heel that wouldn't go away.  We used the special medicated band-aids for plantar warts from Walmart (I can't remember the brand name).  They eventually worked.

  • I tried those, Les. They didn't do anything other than remove my skin and hurt like hell. I had to have mine cut out, twice. Stupid foot. It hates me.

Glad to hear that Cheddar and Muenster are somewhat getting along! They'll be best buds before you know it.

  • Oh planter's warts how I hate you!  I had one when I was in middle school and thought it'd be a great idea to have it removed...  Worst. Idea. Ever. The worst part was when they had to numb my foot.  The needle I swear was a foot long and they jiggled it all around in my foot =(.  The actual burning off of the wart wasn't bad at all because of it being numbed but man it sucked.  And I was a huge baby about the whole thing.  Not one of my best moments.

Ha! I know how you feel. That numbing shot is quite possibly one of the most painful things ever--imagine having 2 in the very bottom of your big toe at the same time. I was alone the first time and broke my suglasses when I clenched my hands. I made H go with me the second time and about broke his finger.

<div>I had one on my middle finger on my right hand for years. YEARS. My doctor told me to try the duct tape thing because it suffocates the wart, and they need air to survive...so, bandaids allow them to breathe, yadda yadda yadda. The one thing that finally got rid of it (knock on wood) was the wart remover discs, but...in the process of having it on for days, then weeks, then months, it ate away at the skin on my finger, and it's still not healed. But it was worth it. </div><div>
</div><div>Morning everyone!! I love random holidays that shut the government down (Columbus day, WOOT!) because that means my work can't operate, so they shut down too!! I had a great weekend of laziness, and I have to get some serious cleaning done today because the IL's are coming this weekend. </div>

  • Morning everyone!  Do we not get mail today? Because that would upset me and my RSVP stalking.  Oh well.

Sounds like everyone had a great weekend :)  We didn't do much.  Actually, we only left the apartment once to go to the dog park... where the puppy found a huge mud puddle... which resulted in a 45 minute bath when we got home.  It was kind of cute though, so he's forgiven.

Number- sorry about all the brother drama.  Sounds like it's a good thing he'll at least have a job, now, right?
  • Good morning!  I'm jealous of those of you who had awesome weekends!

We're off work today, which is great in and of itself, but I'm planning on cleaning/organizing fall clothes and getting ahead with work, so I'm excited about that.  I am a dork.

I also only have a three day weekend because FI's family is coming out Friday so I have a personal day.  I loe this week!

Oh yes.  Mine was on my heel which was bad enough...  I can't even imagine having it done on your toe (it hurts just thinking about it)! Yeah, unfortunately for me at the ripe old age of 11, I was not classy enough to not scream.  See where this is going?  The sad thing was that the doctor's office was one where the walls don't go the ceiling, so the entire waiting room knew my pain.  It was so embarrassing.

  • Good Morning!

Happy Anniversary Beatles, that sounds like a fun way to celebrate.

We did the covered bridge ride in Ashtabula county on Saturday. We started out at 9am, and got home about 5:30. My a$$ was numb from being on the bike that long. But it was a beautiful day. Followed by dinner at our neighbors house (who we rode with), and yesterday was just laundry get things done around the house.

When my brother was little, he sliced open his foot on an oyster shell. We went to the doc and he was cleaning out the wound, and it really hurt my brother. Being the little kid he was, he opened a magazine, pointed to a lizard picture, and shouted at the top of his lungs, "This is your girlfriend! You get an ugly lizard girlfriend because you hurt my foot and I"m not happy!" EVERYONE heard him. It was hilarious.

This is also the same kid who once sung opera in the bathroom at the dentist office with lyrics that included, "going poopy at the doctor's office." I'll never forget my mom's walk of shame to the bathroom to tell him to be quiet.

  • Morning y'all.
I overslept. Like til 5 minutes before I was supposed to be at work kind of overslept. So guess who didn't take a shower today? I HATE that feeling. All I can think about is 5:00 and getting in the shower.
I guess I stayed up too late. I didn't even hear either of my alarm clocks.
Then when I was leaving my house, my key kept getting stuck in the lock and wouldn't turn to lock the door. It was really strange.

I hope my work day goes smoothly.
I envy you people who are off work today!!

You guys are killing me with these "getting things cut out of your foot" stories. Ack I don't do well with that kind of thing. ;)
  • Morning all! Thanksgiving dinner at my aunt's today. That's about it.

On the subject of warts, I have a massive one on my right thumb. It's huge because I had never had one before and it just looked like a dry patch of skin for the first year. I've had it frozen 6 times so far />.> Christ that crap hurts.
