Invitations - Envelopes for extra info

Hi everyone. I always loved pocked invitations that had all the little slots to stick directions, hotel information etc. However, they were simply out of our budget. I'm a neat freak when it comes to things so inside of the main envelope of the invitiation, I was going to include a separate envelope that would hold direction cards, hotel info etc. so that they aren't flopping around loosely with the invitation, reception cards and rsvp. I would put a nice label on them so that people know whats inside.

#1. Do you think this is a good idea?
#2. If so, do you know where I can find some nice patterned ones (affordable) that could fit the directions cards and still fit inside of the larger envelope.

I'm picking up the invitations after work today so I'll know what size I'll need then. Of course I have some concerns about whether or not the main envelope will be too stuffed. Thanks

I would think your main envelope would be too stuffed with yet another envelope inside, and could raise your postage.  Honestly, nobody is going to pay attention to the stuff being placed inside the invitation, every invitation I have ever received that was not a pocket invite just had the info placed inside and it was fine.  I wouldn't spend the extra money on it if it was me.

How about using ribbon with a 2x2 monogram.

See below.....I'm doing this with with pocketfolds but you could also do the ribbon without the pocketfold to hold everything together. You could get the ribbon, 2x2 monogram and 2.5 x 2.5 monogram square from Cards & Pockets

The direction cards and hotel information that we received don't look that fancy or have the correct color so I was thinking it would drag down the look of the formal invitation. But you're right; cost and space could be an issue.

I put a ribbon around the invite (flat) and put everything behind it and the ribbon held it together.

Ditto Laurie, I would do a bellyband made of ribbon or paper to keep things more organized (if it'd REALLY bother you - but honestly I'd just say to stuff the envelopes and not worry about it, because your guests certainly won't).

Just make sure it doesn't puff up the main envelope to the point where USPS charges you extra postage or won't mail them for you.

What do your invites look like? Is it just a regular invite and envelope with all of the other cards? We have an inner envelope that came with ours, that everything will go into. But maybe you could use something like that, and just put the other stuff in it, and leave the Invitiation outside of that envelope. I don't believe one small envelope would increase your postage, but you could always ty one envelope and bring it to the post office to make sure.

I agree- I would just tie a ribbon or belly band around them- Im a neat freak too and just received two wedding invites just like your describing- one was tied with a pretty ribbon and one was just in the inner envelope- both looked very nice and still looked very formal

I just picked them up and we have the pearl lined inner envelope. This is what the invitations look like. We wanted a simple classic look.
