Sales Tax typical for photography?

Hi all - wanted to ask if it was typical for a photographer (live + having my wedding in NYC) to charge sales tax for photography.

    Yes it's typical.  Some will build it into their price while others itemize it.  By law, they must charge sales tax b/c they are providing a product.

    However, there are vendors such as bands/djs - that should not charge sales tax b/c they are providing a service.
