in African American Weddings
So I want a string quartet or quintet. I don't know if I should hire them for cocktail hour in addition to the ceremony or just for the ceremony . I'm also torn between just getting a harpist .

I've never heard a live harpist to be honest .

FI thinks we should just get the quartet for the ceremony and let the dj play music for cocktail hour.

What do you ladies think?

You're supposed to book them through gigmasters.com, but we booked the harpist directly since she didn't care if we didn't book through gigmasters. </div>

    We had a harpist for the ceremony and a DJ for the reception.  The DJ piped jazz over the house speakers during cocktail hour but I would have preferred to have the harpist for that time also if we could have afforded it.

She will play for 30 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony, bridal party processional and recessional, and for the unity candle lighting. She's also going to bring a mini amplifier to attach to the harp so everybody can hear the music.<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Corbel, sans-serif;color:#1f497d;"></span></p>

    I suggest strings for ceremony only and jazz it up for the cocktail hour and reception. To set the mood of a fun time!

    I don't know if you all have performing arts schools down there but we have a lot here in Atlanta. You could always check and see if there is a student group....could save you some money and then you could have them for both!
