Trouble Finding Flat Shoes

Hello NEY! Even though I posted an "intro" thread a while back, I have mostly slipped back into lurking, with the occasional response if I see something especially entertaining.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you know good places to find dressy flat shoes. I'm going to a formal event in the spring, but BF is not the tallest fellow around, plus I am terribly uncoordinated and I would just rather wear flat shoes. I think dressy sandals would be appropriate, I just don't know of many stores that aren't all about 6-inch Heels of Death. Any suggestions? Thank you!

    Try Zappos.com or 6pm.com.

ou! Good question. I have spent several months in search of a good selection of flat/low wedges (I'm still in training for walking in real heels, different problem but same solution!). I dunno your price range but piperlime.com is a good shoe searcher. I enjoy Jessica Simpsons flats and Steve Madden. My favorite shoes right now are Genies by RocketDog but those aren't wicked dressy. Aldoshoes.com has some cute dressy flats. Hope this helps some!

Target and Payless actually both have a great selection of flats and some of them are very dressy.  I can't wear heals at all due to knee and ankle problems and have bought several shoes from both stores.  Their prices are good and the shoes last a long time (I had a pair of dressy black flats that I wore until recently - had them about 5 years and they were the most comfy shoes, but I just wore them out). I'm hoping both stores will get their white flats in soon so I can get some before my wedding and get them broken in as well.

    Good luck searching for shoes.

I also recommend shoebuy.com and even Amazon (they're now carrying shoes with free shipping both ways, too).

Thanks everyone! Zappos looks like it might be the winner, but I appreciate all your input!

Ooh! Is there a DSW near you? That's my favorite place to find stylish-yet-affordable shoes. And I have yet to go into one and not see a TON of cute flats.

I second payless (they seem to have lots of flats, and CHEAP!!). Also, gojane.com has purty flats as well.

If you don't mind investing in a pricier pair, I like to buy from Saks. There's a VW pair I'm drooling over majorly right now...

I am taller than my BF so ALL of my shoes are flat. You can find some really awesome ones just about anywhere. I really like Nine West and http://piperlime.gap.com/

    Zappos is great too. GL

I think it depends on how much money you want to spend.  If you're looking for something less expensive, Zappos.com, 6pm.com, or DSW are great options.

If you don't have a budget, I'd recommend Bloomingdales or Neiman Marcus.

    Good luck!

I  second DSW. They carry Rocket Dog Marilyn Flats and they are by far my favorite flats. They come in a billion different colors and fabrics (silk, suede, canvas). I think sunbird might be getting a pair of Rocket Dog Marilyns to wear for her wedding.

    What color do you like?

    Silver? <a href="http://www.dsw.com/shoe/rocket+dog+marilyn+flat?prodId=209297&productRef=SEARCH" rel='nofollow'>http://www.dsw.com/shoe/rocket+dog+marilyn+flat?prodId=209297&productRef=SEARCH</a>

    Or maybe zebra? <a href="http://www.dsw.com/shoe/rocket+dog+marilyn+zebra+print+flat?prodId=214523&productRef=SEARCH" rel='nofollow'>http://www.dsw.com/shoe/rocket+dog+marilyn+zebra+print+flat?prodId=214523&productRef=SEARCH</a>

I do a lot of shopping online - if you just google "flat blue shoes" or "red glitter flats" or something similar in the color you'd like, lots of results come up.

endless is good, and zappos is too though.

This is amazing. I've only been in a DSW once, and it was on a quick lunch break during a trip to a conference. I'll have to see if there's one in my area. Thanks!

Darn you, Bren. Now I'm on the Saks site coveting the new snakeskin-print Louboutins, which are completely out of my price range. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-tongue-out.gif" border="0" alt="Tongue out" title="Tongue out" />
