Save the Dates/Invitations

Hi everyone,

I am not sure how to begin with the save the dates... friends/family all say different times as to when to send them out.  How far in advance did you send them from your wedding?

Also, did you order the save the dates from the same place as where your invites were from?  We were thinking of ordering them online but don't really know where to begin.  Any advice is very appreciative! Thanks!!

    We got our STDs from weddingpaperdivas - the quality is fantastic.  We sent those about 8 months out.  We did not get our invitations from the same site, and they did not coordinate even one bit except for similar color (purple).

    We sent our STDs out about 8 months before, but we got married over Labor Day weekend and I wish we had sent them out even sooner.  We told our close friends and family the date as soon as we booked it so they could plan accordingly, but it's always good to give as much notice as possible, especially if travel is involved for your guests.  My STDs and invites did not coordinate at all.  We used Magnet Street for our STDs because I wanted to do magnets and utilize our engagement photos.  They did a fantastic job and I can't recommend them enough.  Get on their mailing list- they email coupon codes all the time.  I used them for my Thank You's also because the quality was so great.  For invitations, I actually made my own and used Cards & Pockes to buy the materials and do the printing.

    I sent save the dates out with our christmas cards - so they were sent at about 10 - 11 months before the date (October 2013). 

    Our save the dates were from Shutterfly, and from various coupons and promotions, I was able to get 200 cards for about $20, with free shipping.  I think 10 cents a card was a pretty good deal, considering most people will just throw them out anyway.  :(

    I sent our STD out in October for our July wedding. I used pear tree greetings for both the invites and STD. They were the best price out of all the places I look at online.
