Poll: bridesmaids' shoes

How specific are you when it comes to bridesmaids' shoes? Both weddings I've been in previously specified a color (black), and I purchased (or dug out of the closet) my own shoes that matched that.

What are you doing? Also, are you purchasing shoes for your girls, or are they buying their own? Thanks!

Re: Poll: bridesmaids' shoes

  • My girls have short black dresses, so I chose a black open toed pump for them to wear for the ceremony and photos.  If they want to wear that shoe the whole night, that is fine, but if they want to change into something more comfy for the reception, that is fine too.  I also have one bridesmaid that will be 7 mo. pregnant, so I told her to wear whatever she wants to be comfortable for the whole day...

I'm buying my girls' shoes (that's my Bridesmaids gift to them, since they will be very wear-again-able) and we are all wearing the same style flats; their's are ivory, mine will be cornflower blue
  • Our colors are blue and silver.  My bridesmaids dresses are all blue (each got to pick out her own) and I just told them any kind of silver shoes they wanted , just probably wedges or flats because it's an outdoor ceremony.  I figured if they got to pick the dress I'm going to let them pick their shoes also so they're all comfortable!
  • My girl have short dresses. I found a pair of cute ivory strappy heels to go with their brown dresses. They are paying for their shoes, but I am paying for their dresses. And I found the heels for $24, they just had to get online to order them.
