Poll: DIY stuff

What are you doing? What did you do? Where did you draw the line at too many projects/it's too difficult?

Anyone want to share pics of their progress?

    We did/will do DIY:

std's, invites, centerpieces, buying our own paper lanterns rather than renting, escort cards, programs- pretty much all paper is DIY.

Did anyone travel with their DIY projects? Did anyone ship them via postal mail? Was it a mess when you got them in Hawaii or did everything turn out ok?

i made our programs, table numbers, monograms/favors, and centerpieces.

we sent our centerpiece vases home with different family members and took them with us on various trips home.

the other stuff (paper stuff) i put into a roll-on carry on bag and made sure to keep it with me in case the airlines lost my luggage! basically, everything i NEEDED, i put in the roll on suitcase. :)

We DIY'd fan handles, water bottles, beer bottles, centerpieces, reserved signs, favors, invites, table numbers, bathroom basket, cranes, OOT leis, escort cards, venue sign, and parasols.

Also bought our own linens, napkins, chair sashes, lanterns (turned out tons cheaper than buying!)

Looking at the list it was A LOT... but definitely worth it.  Everyone loved the little personal touches and thankfully we had help so the process wasnt that bad!  If you're on the fence about DIY-ing I am NOT a crafty person so there is hope for everyone :)

PWash - I LOVE the 'Lost' label!  So cute, and ties in correctly too!

I personally haven't done any DIY.  I just am not very creative, so I have relied pretty heavily on a vendor at Etsy to help me out, she has been AMAZING and I am so glad that I'm not spending my time working on signs, etc.

    So much easier!  :)

    I agree....LOVE THE LOST label!!!

I'm pretty much doing everything as a DIY (I'm not working with a wedding coordinator) All of my invites and labels I've designed myself. I won't have any "ceremony" items while in Hawaii except for the OOT bags. The at-home reception is also DIY....centerpieces, cupcake stand ect...ect...anything to cut down on cost!

I DIY'd our STDs, invites (although I had them printed professionally and then I assembled them), wrap around invite labels, "newsletter" update sent to guests a month before the wedding, fan handles, escort cards/escort card display, favors (a family friend did a lot of the work on these for me), card box, flower girl basket, decorated votives, and various signs.

I send things home with various family members during the months leading up to the wedding, then mailed the rest.  I should have been more nervous about relying on USPS, but it all worked out fine.  There were only a couple projects I had to bring with me when we flew home for the wedding, and those were mainly small items I finished at the last minute.

I'm DIYing all the paper products: STD, Invites, bridal shower invite, announcements, AHR invites, info brochure, bar menu, table names, place settings, seating map, guest book, guest book directions, signs for transportations' windows, and all the welcome bag paper products.  Pics in BIO.

I've ordered hankies from Etsy.  I ordered custom shot glasses.  I've ordered my own napkin rings and ramekins online, because I didn't like what our vendors had.

I've been taking all my paper products in my rolling carry-on, wrapped in bubble wrap and underneath that in individual packets, whether zip-lock bags or plastic folders.  I'm definitely glad I did the bubble wrap though!

DIY'd save the dates magnets, printed invites on target invites, DIY'd a map, and made a monogram to include on favors and programs. Also, I folded my 1000 cranes which is kinda DIY. Working on plans for namecards and welcome bags....

I did our website. This is actually how we are announcing our wedding. We have kept it a secret to all but our immediate family. That was a fun project and I am a bit of a nerd.

Plus our out of town brochures
