QOTD 9/27

(I hope it's ok that I did the question today!)

Where did you or are you planning to register? Any specific reason(s) for choosing one store over another?

Re: QOTD 9/27

  • I chose BBB and Target. Knowing our guests most of them have never heard of stores like Williams Sonoma. Plus we didn't want to give too many options so that more people will bring cards..

  • We registered at Belk, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and Target.  The Target registry is really tiny and by tiny I mean has 9 things on it.  They had a comforter we fell in love with as well as sheets at a lower price range than Bed Bathand Beyond.

Belk was an easy choice because it's such a common store.  It also carried the dishes we wanted.  Bed, Bath, and Beyond had all the little stuff and was a little cheaper.  Target had the budget-friendly sheets and a comforter that we love so much if it goes on clearance before anyone buys it, I'm buying it myself.

  • We registered/are registering at Macy's, Crate and Barrel and Target. We picked Macy's because of their rewards. We will get a gift card after the wedding based on what we spend and the gifts we get. Also, its a pretty common place to register and will be easy for people to shop at. http://www1.macys.com/registry/wedding/registryrsrhome We picked C&B because their stuff is awesome and you can buy dinnerware, glassware, and silverware in sets or individuals. So... If(when) we break something we can replace it easily. We picked Target because it is easy for people. Our registry there will be small but will offer people options.

  • Probably will do BBB and Amazon.  Both of those have really easy return policies.  That is the main reason, plus ease of use/most people know them. We are trying to keep the number of physical presents down since we will probably be moving for my job in the next few months.

  • We registered at Target. Its affordable and there are locations everywhere. Because we've been living together for 1.5 years and we've both been married before we don't think we'll be getting many gifts (and thats ok). So we only registered at 1 place.

  • We registered at Macy's already, and are probably going to do Target as well. They both seemed like the easiest places for people to get to. We moved into a house together last October and did a housewarming party and registered at BBB for that, otherwise we would register there. We don't really need much...

  • We did Bed Bath and Beyond and Macy's.  They both had the stuff we wanted at decent prices.

  • We're only registering for dishes, flatware, and glasses. We chose pottery barn because we liked their sets of those things the best.

I think we'll be doing Target and maybe Kohls or BBB. I was married before and we have been living together for a year & have kitchen stuff, etc. I think we'll register for new everyday dishes, new towels, updated counter appliances (such as a KitchenAid mixer, toaster, food processor). New sheets. Oh and new bakeware (pans, cookie sheets, etc). I still have hand-me-down stuff from college! We don't want fine china. We technically don't need stuff but it will be nice to have new things that are "ours".

  • We did Bed Bath and Beyond and got most of the stuff we wanted there. We also did a few things at Target and his mom suggested we do JcPenny as well.

I think 2 is enough but we may just do a few things there to make her happy.

  • We registered at Williams Sonoma, Macy's and Target. We picked these three mainly because they hit every price point. We tried to give people who had money to  burn the option of choosing a higher end place and then people like our new college graduate friends who are lacking in funds the option to buy us something inexpensive.

We thought about Crate and Barrel but my sister registered there and everything (and I'm not exagerating) broke and she was constantly returning stuff. She told me to definitley not register there unless I want to spend my life returning stuff haha. Idk if anyone else had this experience but she definitley did.

  • Macy's and Crate&Barrel.

I really like both of their registry programs, and FI and I got a Macy's card to take advantage of more registry benefits. Also, we already live together so we don't see a point in having more registries at other stores.

  • Macy's because they have a nice rewards program and easy return policy. They also have good sales so guests should be able to get a good deal on whatever they pick from our registry. And they also seem to be everywhere. Oh and they sent me a nice hadwritten card after I registered online, I thought it was a nice touch!

Amazon! Because I just love them and they were the only place I could think to register for things like snorkel eqipment since we are honeymooning in Tahiti.

Warning for those at Target, I heard the registry doesn't work very well there. I went to a baby shower a few months ago and saw several repeat gifts because the registry didn't get updated.

  • We did Target and BBB, both can be accessed online and there is at least one or both close to where everyone lives (we have a lot of OOT guests).

  • We haven't registered yet, but I think we're going with Macy's and then a Honeymoon registry. We live together, but have also lived on our own with fully furnished households. The Macy's registry is to satisfy the ask from older family that want to give a physical gift -- most of our friends know we'd prefer an experience to remember on our honeymoon. (Yes, I know, bad etiquette... but that's why I'm not posting this on the etiquette board! Besides, there are a LOT of resources, including Emily Post, who say that a Honeymoon registry is acceptable.)

  • We're definitely doing BBB and probably also at Target bc my FI wants to register there. I'm also considering Macy's or Kohls, but it all depends on how much we can get covered at the other two. I'd love to register at Williams Sonoma, but I don't think too many people would use it as it can get pretty pricey.

I have one set up with Honey Fund but I go back and forth about it. I thought it was fine until I read some long thread on the Honeymoon board that made me feel all uncomfortable about it. So for now it's not linked on our website, I don't know what to do! I don't have that much stuff on our other registries because we really don't need much since we already live together and bought all new stuff when we moved in.

<div>Idk I've lived with my FI for over 2 years and we still had quite a big registry. A lot of things that we just would never buy ourselves we are asking for. I think honeymoon funds are ok as long as you use the money for the actual honeymoon. I think it can be deceiving other wise and I know I'd feel uncomfortable if I thought I was buying a scuba diving trip for two and you guys ended up using the money for something else. </div><div>
</div><div>But I know some people are completley against them (ie: etiquette board) but I personally don't have an issue as long as you aren't being deceitful :-)</div>

  • I dont see anything wrong with a honeymoon fund, we aren't doing one though. We actually need house stuff instead.

I've heard the negative reviews on Target but our registry is so small and is mostly sheets, and the comforter.  If we got multiple sets of sheets I wouldn't complain.  Anything else we'll just return.
