kind of a specific question - cake

Hi guys!  This is going to be a somewhat specific question but if any of you happen to be able to help me out, that would be great.  I went with Petals n Glass boutique to do my flowers...Julie, who owns the place I believe, is great.  I hadn't decided on a cake yet but Julie told me her sister bakes cakes out of her home and the pricing she gave me was half the price I've seen at most bakeries, plus it would be easy to coordinate flowers on the cake and all that since they basically work together.  I've seen pictures of the cakes and they are pretty, but has anyone had any experience working with her (I can't remember her name right now, since she is private probably the main way she gets business is through Petals n Glass) or had any of her cakes?  Thanks!

I have not worked with them, but if you are unsure about it, ask if you can set up a tasting. A good baker won't pressure you to use their services without doing a tasting first. There are also several bakers who work out of their houses who charge a lot less than a brick and mortar bakery. Some of these are:
    Flying Buttercream
    Marilyn's Cakes
    Tres Belle

I definitely would NOT book anything without having a tasting.  Ask if she can give you a list of past customers as references.

Absolutely agree with above - if she wants your business, she will have no problem setting up a tasting.

Thanks ladies!  Yeah I will definitely set up a tasting the next time I am home, maybe over Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Hopefully it's good, it would just be so convenient.
