When should i give the bridesmaids their gift?

Hey,

I'm not sure if i'm posting this in the right area.. but I heard that you are suppose to give the wedding party gifts at the rehearsal so when should I do it?

It's an outside wedding, so we are rehearsing outside, then we are all going on a bus and riding to the restaurant together afterwards. When should I give them the gifts that night?

Re: When should i give the bridesmaids their gift?

  • We did it at the rehearsal dinner.

  • Where would I put the gift bags in the meantime?
  • I'm going to give mine AT the rehearsal, right before we go to the dinner.  We have a bunch of OOT family at the RD, and I would feel awkward giving out gifts in front of so many people.
  • Could you put them on the bus? Or, you'll just carry them to the rehearsal site and then carry them on the bus to dinner.

You could certainly give them out at the rehearsal, but then your WP would have to tote them around. You could also do some sort of BM brunch or something at another time and given them there.

  • We plan to do it at the rehearsal dinner.

  • We gave our wedding party their gifts at the rehearsal dinner.  We didn't make a big scene of it or anything though.

  • I hope you don't mind, but this is a really good question and it's been weighing on my mind as well.

We're having a destination wedding and we're going to make gift bags for all the people coming on the trip. Now I'm wondering if it's OK to give the special gifts to the moh and groomsmen on the trip too?

We're not having a rehearsal dinner or anything so I'm wondering if it's ok to give them the day we arrive in Mexico (where we're going).

Sorry again for hijacking your thread...but props to a great question...  Wink

  • Mrsbiss - I think what you have planned is fine. In your case, you could also do something special (drinks or dinner or something) with your BM and MOH before you all leave for the wedding and give them their gifts then. That way you don't have to travel with the gifts and neither do you BM/MOH.

Then again, if the gifts are physically small, it's really not a big deal either way.

Thank's for the suggestion. It would be a great idea to give the "special" gifts before the trip. I could invite them over for a dinner party for everyone to get to know each other better as well.
