Anyone else super excited for V-Day tomorrow?

It's our 1st Valentine's Day together, and I'm SO excited! I'm also pretty good at gift giving, but really bad at keeping the gift a secret, so I'm bursting at the seams here. I'm about to go to the closet and get his gift and just give it to him already. But, I'll restrain myself.

Anyone else as giddy as I am?

Yeah, we're both college students, so we're trying to spend as little as possible.

I got him a gift basket full of his favorite snacks, a shotglass with his* initials engraved on it, a teddy, a movie, and I stole the '12 months of dates' gift idea that one of the girls posted on the Etiquette board.

I'm trying SO hard to wait! Haha. He's letting us exchange gifts at midnight, because he knows how impatient I am.

    *edit
  • Simply Fated- I hope you feel better!

Sonya- Your gift sounds so sweet. That's funny you get to exchange gifts at midnight. Your FI knows you very well.

  • Simply Fated: Oh no!! I'm sorry you're not feeling well! I'm sending good vibes your way! I hope you feel better, hun.

JadziaDax: Thanks! I'm hoping he'll love it. Also, tomorrow afternoon he'll get a surprise Valentine. I work at Chick-fil-A and our store is doing a Valentine's Day special and he'll get a chicken sandwich, a card, and a rose delivered to our apartment, by the Chick-fil-A cow! He'll be so embarrassed, it'll be great! Yes, he knows me very well. We went through the same thing during Christmas, ha.
  • Thank you!

It TOTALLY figures I'd get sick today. I'm not the least bit surprised.

bahahha I'm sure he'll love the surprise cow visit! That sounds awesome lol.

  • I'm so excited to see his face when he answers the door.
  • Awwwww. This thread is sweet :)

Valentines day is our 3 year dating anniversary, but we will have to go to an AA meeting tomorrow for one of H's classes. (HOW ROMANTIC.) I'm just going with so that he doesn't feel weird going alone. All of his classmates have already gone. He did, however, send me flowers at work today, and has something else for me tomorrow, so I am looking forward to that :)

  • this is valentines day number 5 for us..so crazy how time flies. We are being pretty low key, we are spending the day together since we are both off work and are just going to dinner and I am forcing him to go see the vow.

I would be so excited if the chick fil a cow showed up on my doorstep, my FI would be too!

  • I'm making FI see The Vow tomorrow, also. Although, from what I've been hearing, it's a pretty depressing movie. I'm thinking of changing it to The Woman In Black, because he's letting me pick the movie and he refuses to see that one with me on any other day. Haha.

He's a Dental student, which makes this even weirder LOL! But, it's a private SDA school (Loma Linda), and it's for a "Personal Development" class.

I am guessing that I will be getting chocolate covered strawberries for my second present, only because H mentioned it the other day when a commercial came on! Ha ha! He's so predictable. I love it ;)
  • I hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day- Have a good night!

  • That is weird for Dental school. Even for a Personal Development class. I've never heard of it.

Yeah, FI mentioned that he is probably getting me some a while back, when I told him not to buy me straight up chocolates, because they'll probably just sit there. He's not good at remembering to keep secrets.

[QUOTE]When my son was in high school he would buy a dozen cheap roses from the grocery store and take them to school.  Everytime he saw a girl who looked sad, he would present her with a rose, saying, "You look so beautiful today.  You should have this!" Needless to say, he was popular that day - unless the girl had a boyfriend who found out!

Hah, yeah... there is a lot of weird stuff they make them do. It has something to do with the fact that dentist have a high alcoholic and suicide rate I believe.

  • FI leaves tomorrow morning for a business trip.  I'm working a 9 hour night shift.

Yeah, lots to be excited about here.  :P

    <div>Oh, no. I'm sorry. That's a huge bummer. :/</div>
  • In case anyone was wondering, we just opened gifts! FI got me a set (fragrance mist, body butter, shower gel, and bubble bath) of my favorite scent from Bath and Body Works! And he loved his basket of goodies!
  • We're doing the cliche dinner at an Italian restaurant.  I doubt I'll get a present, maybe a card, if he has time to get me one.  He's not big on the holiday because it's so commercial.  Plus, we're both graduate students living on student loans, so not a lot of money to burn on flowers that'll die in a week.  I do plan on raiding Target Wednesday night after class for 50% off chocolates though.  That's romantic, right?

  • This is our 4th Valentine's Day together.  I am so excited I have actually been planning all month.  He thinks we are just doing something low key, maybe going to the movies after dinner.  However, I am planning on making an amazing meal of homemade broccoli cheese soup in a bread bowl, stuffed pork chops, grilled asparagus, and maybe a desert if I have the time (he isn't big on sweets, so I know he'll appreciate the other food more).  I also got him a sappy card.  IMO this is payback for 2 Valentine's Days ago when I had to work, so he made roasted duck for us to enjoy after work.

Yeah, it is.  We'll celebrate when he gets home.  But he might be coming home with a promotion, so that would be a pretty nice tradeoff.  :)
