Time article on recent Vegas violence

I had no idea someone was killed in the Excalibur lobby just a few months ago?!  Can't believe I hadn't heard about that.

Re: Time article on recent Vegas violence

  • I heard about the Excaliber thing, but damn, I had no idea about the crazy woman who stabbed the blackjack dealer at the Bellagio!  The article says that the crazy woman also  kidnapped and killed her ex-fiance's 10 year old daughter!  That is terrible!

Scary stuff in the news these days!

  • Holy crap! That's messed up. At least most of these acts of violence don't seem to be random. Except the Mandalay Bay - that was totally random.

  • See this is why I don't read the paper or watch ths news anymore. It was making me sick from seeing all the violence that is going on in the world! It's good to knkw what's going on for the most part but it seems reporters love focusing on tragedy so much that for me, ignorance is bliss.

<div>If you check out lvmpd.com, you can enter an address or zip and see what incidents have happened on the strip. Mostly drunk and disorderly, small drug busts, maybe simple assault.  The majority of the violence is domestic/known parties, not random. It is looking like the shooting was both though. This morning they said the shooter likely knew the guy in the Maserati, more than the incident at Aria, and the cab driver and passenger were the obvious innocent bystanders. It's also been implied that the Maserati guy was a little more involved in his alternate business; and that may have something to do with why he was shot.</div><div>
</div><div>I wouldn't worry about random violence as a tourist though. I don't think it's any more dangerous than say, Omaha or Denver. But that my opinion.</div>

I feel the exact same way.   A 'rapper' getting shot at 4am in his Maserati at a busy intersection where it would be very unlikely chance put two strangers together at the same time just calls out ongoing situation.

    Thank you for the website!
FI and I have been seriously considering moving to Vegas within the next few years (the home prices are so cheap!) but one of my main concerns has been how to pick out a safe neighborhood when we have no experience with the residential areas. I'm sure that website will help

I try  not to dwell on the bad stuff. No matter what happens we are marrying the man we we love so it will be perfect!!!
