DH's beebee baby name idea

DH is a jr. If we have a boy he wants him to be a III (which gets a hell no from me btw) and as a nickname call him.....Trip! because there will be 3 of them.

Some jr.'s are ok by me. When a friend of mine told me she wanted to name a son after her husband, and then actually call him "Junior", I gave her a major side-eye.

And then there was my friend's cousin who named her son after his dad. His dad's name is Messiah. WHAT?!

Mr. Kuus is a third, too. His family sometimes calls him Turd.

Confession: DH is a junior and the kiddo is the III. I'm glad that he got that out of the way before he met me.

Not that we can agree on a name at the present time or anything.

[QUOTE]trip. oh, Mr. L&R. these men and their ideas. ;) can i ask why the hearty hell no? every time i tell people Jr. is going to be a Jr. , they ask if i am sure, and if i want to hear name suggestions. to that, btw, i always tell them have their own baby and name him whatever the hell they want.

because FIL is one of 5 kids and they all have R names, along with several of DH's cousins. There are so many jrs already that it is confusing enough. My kid needs a different name.

Don't the Palins have a Trip in there somewhere, among Trig and Track and Tripp-Trapp and whomever? If that isn't reason enough to abandon this plan, I don't know what is.

Oy.... there is was a "Trip" (same situation with the name) born to one of my co-workers recently. I couldn't roll my eyes hard enough.

    I like Trey.

Also, I dated a thirteenth once. Now that family needed some new names, it was confusing as heck.

    This made me HEE!

Tripp is Bristol's son. Track and Trig are her brothers (I think that's their names). I know this because of DWTS.

Yep, Trip is a Pail name.

My brother was named afte rmy dad, and his dad, and his dad...., but they all have different middle names so they aren't thirds, etc. My SIL gave him a hearty hell no on the first name. A pretty accurate quote was "Look at our genes. He's going to be short, smart, and need glasses and braces. If we name him Herb he might as well shove himself in the locker."

    Hence my nephew Benjamin Herbert.

I love Benjamin. If it weren't for my nephew, that would have been on the short list.

Since NOLA's not here to say so, I'll throw in that just about everyone in her family, male and female, is named after one uncle. They pretty much all have very slight variations of the same name.

    I find this hilarious.

I also knew a "Trey." I didn't even know he was a III for years. My uncle is a III. They were going to make the son a IV, but my aunt just cried and cried after he was born and said, "I just can't name him Harold. I CAN'T!!!" (pregnancy/L&D hormones were seriously raging - no one was actually going to use the name in everyday conversation) A nurse came in and said, "I've always liked the name 'Matthew.'" And so, my cousin is Matthew. :)
