What flavor cake would you choose?

We're having a 3 tiered cake with 3 different flavors. An 8", 12" and 16" cake each a different flavor. I'm trying to figure out which will be most popular to make that the 16" cake and the least to make it the 8". So, what flavor would you pick??

Choices:

1. Chocolate covered cherry w chocolate icing
2. Butter Pecan w caramel filling
3. White with raspberry filling

Thanks in advance!

I chose white with raspberry just because that would probably appeal to the most people.  Our three tiers largest to smallest were: tres leches, chocolate ganache, and white w/raspberry.  The chocolate would be my second choice.

I love chocolate/cherry, but I voted for the white/raspberry because I think it would appeal to more people.

I don't know that I've been to a wedding where they give people choices, per se, they kind of just drop the cake off at your table. Then you switch around if need be.

We did our top and bottom tier the same, but I probbaly would have done the middle and top tier the same if I could do it over, to have a more even cake distribution. FWIW, we had vanilla and chocolate w/ hazelnut mousse on the top and bottom, and white cake w/ fresh blackberries for the middle tier.

I also chose the rasberry because I feel as though that would be something most people would like.  You could always have each tier be a different flavor. :)

I chose chocolate, but we actually made the butter pecan our biggest layer. We have White as the small layer, then sprinkle! (like funfetti!) then butter pecan.

I would say yes to any of them! But chocoalte cherry is probably my favourite.
  • edited December 2011
I also chose butter pecan with caramel. Keep in mind that the top layer is for you and FI, so that could be a different flavor as the rest, and pick your favorite!

The chocolate-covered cherry is too reminiscent of the absolutely vile cordial cherries that we always had at Christmas ::shudder:: I would MUCH rather have the white with raspberry filling.

Ditto white with raspberry filling.  Chocolate covered cherries aren't too appealing to me and the butter pecan and caramel sounds sort of heavy I guess?

I too think the white/raspberry would be the most universally appealing, but I personally would go straight for the chocolate.  (Can't stand pecans so no help there.)

Of those three choices my favorite would be white/raspberry, and the chocolate/cherry coming in at a close second :)

    Something to think about...

My cake baker suggested we do the "whitest" cake of our 3 flavors on the bottom layer. That way when we cut a slice from the bottom layer, and feed it to each other, if any cake should fall on my dress it won't leave a stain. Ditto with red fillings. Just in case, they may be better on an upper layer.

I would do the white as the biggest.  We have red velvet as our biggest, then white with lemon, then chocolate/ chocolate fudge.

I picked Butter Pecan with Caramel, because I have a sweet tooth, and I can't stand raspberries. (I know, I know...)

I voted white with raspberry because Ii'm not a fan of cherries and have never tried the butter pecan one. FWIW, we had chocolate w/ chocolate, chocolate w/ raspberry, and carrot cake with the chocolate w/ chocolate being the biggest layer, and carrot the smallest.

I think as long as you go with chocolate covered cherry and and white cake as your big layers you'll do great :)

We're doing red velvet and possibly choc for our cake, but since my dad's birthday is the next day we're having a cake for him too which will be white w/ mousse. We saw it as a great opportunity to get the cake we wanted but still have enough for those anti chocolate people :)
